So today whilst at work I have given my drum the ultimate test.

some how, I have managed to flood my filter pit and the drum.
I cant tell the extent of the damage as the pictures my misses have sent arn't quite clear enough to tell how high the water line is, I think it may of finished just below the motor meaning I might be lucky and now only require a new washer pump. Worse case, it will be the UV Lamp, base and ballast, motor and washer pump.

has anyone else decided to throw away a thousand pounds yet?? ☹️☹️

    Same here, hope you're lucky.

My issues are hopefully behind me now, the drum has been running away without any issues. I was cleaning out my planted pond and the resultant crap that I stirred up had the drum in an almost constant cleaning cycle for a while. It took around 24 hours to clear the water again but did the job.
Fingers crossed we all have an uneventful winter with our drums.

You might be lucky - as there is rubber seal in the drum motor housing (between the cover and drum filter housing itself) - plus all electric connections are located way up under the cover - so partial flooding - fingers crossed - should not damage it - I have seen it when tightening the famous nut on slip clutch. Also the UV-C should be OK - the housing of the lamp is well insulated against water intrusion - but do not know about it's control unit though. How high did you installed your control box for the drum itself? This one should not be submerged at all.

Well I've agreed the sale of all my Koi so all my equipment including my Easy Drum will be coming up for sale in a couple of months time. The drum has performed flawlessly since the control box was renewed and makes a great job of mechanical filtration. I will also have a complete grow on set up available and various other pieces of equipment. PM me if interested

    Thanks Kenny,

Going to be selling our house early next year and decided to bite the bullet and let everything go to make life easier. I intend building from scratch in the next house and getting it right.
