But that's still double the price of AEM isn't it?

Very happy with my AEM, came with Amalgam uv included keeps screen clear of bio film. Copes with 3" skimmer and 4" BD feeds, running at max with 10,000 and 15,000 (restricted) pumps returning to my heavily stocked 18,000 ltr (4,000 gallon) pond.
Currently cleaning at 45 min intervals.
Would I have a different drum if money was not a factor well yes but then I would be living next to the golf course driving a Bentley and of course spending a lot more on my fish.
I know where I am with the hobby and enjoy what I've got.
The drum purchase was all about reducing the daily filter cleaning regime, although I did not mind it, I did not like leaving it to others.
So at the end of this Sunday morning ramble sent from by my pond eating a bowl of cherio's and coco pops in the morning sun , enjoy your ponds look after the water and keep feeding the hungry ones.

Hi guys - I guess I might have figured out what's wrong with the top cover - as reported by Apbar - and seen by me initially - distorted after some not too long use with corners lifting up noticeably - as I already posted couple months ago, I had to put a brick as a weight into each corner of the RDF top cover - and as I wanted to quiet it a bit when cleaning as it sits just under my kids bedrooms, I put on the top of the RDF cover but under the four bricks in corners the white foam piece from the bottom of the original cardboard package in which it ships out from AEM. Now - after quite some time when I went on to carry mid year RDF cleanoout I learned, that as there was some water - condensed or dripped there - do not know - under the foam and on the top of the filter cover, this filter cover has actuallly completely straightened out - so my hypothesis is, that it distorts due to it's material it is made from - when experiencing different humidity levels on both it's sides - wet inside - and normlly dry outside - but when it is humid outside as well - like in my case under the foam weighted with the bricks in the corners, the material straightens out fully - not saying it should not be made by AEM using diffrent plastics not doing this at first place - but I guess the solution seems simple - wet rug or a bit of water under such foam from the original box fixes the issue - imperfect - but works - if anyone with AEM Easy drum installed has experienced the same - try it and let me know if it works for you the same way....

Bottom line - apart of this minor imperfection I am extremly happy with this drum filter - it works greatly in my pumped setup (24.000L in the ground pond, 10.000L/h skimmer line and 7.000L/h bottom line coming into RDF - anoxic filter and Nexus 220 after AEM Easy Drum) - could not be happier with it's performance - well - after adding wet rug on top of it I guess

A further update and for once no issues at all. The drum has been working away since it came back from AEM without any problems. I was even away for a couple of days and all was well on my return. Hopefully I will have no further problems and the drum will just continue to do a great job.

Hi tylerjet - I think that's the first anyone has even seen that version of the combi drum, how much media can it hold in the bio section ?

800 seems a lot to add a plastic box !

That price includes all the pumps plus less pipe work I have no idea how much media it can hold

  24. #713
By pumps I assume you mean the addition of an air pump ?

  25. #714
Pump for the jets plus pump for the pond

  26. #715
Still a lot of money for a plastic bio box

But it is a neat solution

    AEM Easy Drum Review

For interest when I was over in Arcen most of the Drum suppliers were quoting SKS (Selective Koi Sales) as the main UK importer for their drum/bio units (Aquaforte and Red Label Aquaking as an example).

I'm wondering if these guys could source one.

(I had the same experience Bowsaw, when I tried to contact AEM earlier in the year).

    Rob.

I have recently ordered an AEM Drum from Springbank koi, its been a while getting it as a pallet of drums went missing on way over to england, but I should be receiving my drum on Wednesday.
