UV units ... What do you recomend?

    Hi all,

In the Market for a new UV light and wanted to gauge some opinion on what is a good buy for a 6000 gallon pond. I have been looking at the cloverleaf stainless Smartstart 72w

    Cheers Mike

I'm pleased with the 110w TMC unit I run on 6000 gallons. Pond has a pergola over it but gets a fair amount of sun.

Spares are easy to get, tubes around £20 and quartz tubes £29.

We have a 110w tmc on our pond , i am with Dave and Bullet about the spares being easy to get and easy to replace (as long as you dont build the shed too close to the uv so that changing anything means taking bits of the shed apart etc )
not tried anything other than tmc so we dont have anything to compare against but if its good enough for Dave its good enough for us

it probably is a bit ott Jim, can too much uv filtration be a bad thing ?
thing is when we bought most of our pond equipment when we started up, somebody was closing their pond so we took it all "lock ,stock and 110 watt uv, who knows one day we may be in a position to make the pond big enough to fit the uv , but we dont want to go the other way round and adjust the uv to fit the pond lol

You can buy uv tubes cheaper from a electrical wholesaler like Wilts

I use an EA 55w uv and love the fact it can handle a large volume of water

I run my setups on Ea and love them but would defiantly have to agree with you there Vince, what's with them and not wanting to supply spares???? For a company that must make fortunes out of us you would think they would be a little more helpful

I have 110 watt tmc always best to buy one that will cope with more gallons than your pond pond size 4500 gallons

I currently have an EA 110 unit but will be switching to a smaller submersible one when I get my drum filter.
