Moving Bed Chamber
So decided to build a moving bed chamber to add extra bio after my combi drum.
105 litre water tank

So basically:
- Cut hole in top for access
- Fixed small plastic brackets in corner of the access hole to support the lid
- Fixed tank connectors for inlet at top, outlet at bottom and flush valve (as drain is too high in filter shed, fluch valve is via a "dip tube". There is a separate drain built into the tank with a 3/4" drain cock fitted.
- Made outlet tube from perforated Polypropylene sheet (ebay £5) (also available from RS Components)
- 2 x 300mm x 50mm air stones run from EA 95 pump which I already had
So far I have 15 litre HEL-X in there as thats all I had left, but I have 25 litres on order and I think it will easily run that as well (so 40 total)

ebay.
Theres loads of options and sizes. It was just a case of finding one that fit comfortably into the space I had.
105 litres. 500 x 300 x 700 high. Was about £110.

how's it holding up with water mass in there?
the cut out would be a bit stronger if the corners were rounded, helps distribute the stress load out,
need to build one of these myself and you have reminded me to go shopping.the slow pond build thread

The tank is several mm thick. Its really robust and doesn`t deform under water mass.

I now have 40 litres Hel-X & Hel-X 13 turning over nicely in the chamber.
I had to take the EA95 air pump off though as with this much media, the air volume was raising the water level a bit high.
Switched it to my Yamitsu 50 and its running like a dream.
