    Trickle in, trickle out

    Hi guys

I have a 2000 gallon natural pond with four large koi (and a couple of tench).

    Filter is one of these:

I'd like to install a constant trickle in, trickle out so that the water is changed gradually instead of in large amounts every week or so.

    Questions:

    • Does anyone have a design that I can copy?
    • How would you measure the flow of water?
    • Does the water need to be treated with de-chlorinator?

I think that's all at the moment!

Don't know if this has worked as I have a new tablet.
This is a good DIY project which I have used.
The water would need to be treated with sodium thiusulphate, sounds drastic but cheap and easy to use as per Manky Sanky web site.
Ask if you need any more info.

I have a trickle in and overflow, the water gets de-chlorinated before it goes into the pond via a Evolution Aqua 30" Dechlorinator Carbon Filter, trickling into the drum filter, I have an overflow in the skimmer

Measure the flow by trickling the water into a measuring jug and time how long it takes to fill, then you can work out the flow once you know the time and the volume
