Help needed
Hello all,
I am writing to get some advise for my new pond build. yes I am building a 12ft X 8ft X 5ft deep pond at Coventry and is stuck with an issue. The pond was dig last month. Now I am progressing my build further. I have installed the bottom drain, TPR Jet and the skimmer and did the necessary plumbing as well. The next step is to put the underlay and the liner. But before I put the underlay, I want to level the pond bottom to make proper slopes from all sides to the middle of the pond at the drain.
The problem is the weather situation is causing water to be accumulated at the bottom of the pond. I can pump the water away but when I try to level the soil, the mud is so soft that it gets the impression of my feet and am not able to make a proper levelling of the soil.
I know I can wait for few days for the weather to get settled and the pond bottom become dry. But Is there any other thing I can do to overcome this situation so I can progress to the next step now please?
Many thanks. Bis

Have you got any scaffold planks or board you can stand on to spread your weight. Sand is less slimey than wet mud.
What about a tarpaulin over the top to help dry it out?

build a pergola over pond now and put a tarp over it,then use sand in bottom of pond,be careful just with soil,i did that on my first build and ended up with a small pointy stone coming through liner eventually, andi

You could dig a hole failrly close to the pond that is slightly deeper and use a sump pump to drain it. After a few days of doing that the pond base should be a lot drier.
