I've only just spotted this thread ... love seeing a good bit of DIY ...
The line I've quoted from above is a great example of how a small change can make a BIG difference ... a lot of people don't realise how much difference a small change can make in a DIY design ... that's one of the things I find hardest to get across to people when I'm helping them build one of my designs .....
I've got a few of those very same tubs here ... looks good ... I'm gonna have to go back and read the whole thread now ...

I swapped my 90 degree back to a spray bar last week. Bigger holes I went for and the results are good.
It's a bit like a pressure washer but it helps when I use koimasters advantage which is like a clay the screen doesn't clog.
Are you Young ones arriving today? Usually Wednesday or Friday.

Morning Dave, yes they are coming this am,bought them over the phone for £65 delivered which I thought a good price, now I have noticed they have some on Ebay on an auction starting at 99p for 100 and inc food and delivery, bargain and I will watch to see what they go for.
I have put a smaller pump on for now as the 10000 could be a bit much for the babes.
Think the holes depend how much flow you have Dave, what pump and what size holes have you?John

The holes on my bar are about the size of a 5p. (I just winged it with a step whole cutter). The pump I have is a 15000
What 2k heater did you get. Mine was delivered yesterday. Didn't know wether to wire it direct into the power to supply unit. Or put it on a switch box. I had a 3kw on a switch box with no issues. The new one has its own switch panel so was thinking direct would be fine.

Mine is 1kw from China
It is basically a small emersion heater but had to make a waterproof housing for it and it works ok,that is why I was nervous turning it on.John

It's a bit of a tricky one to judge as although the heater is 9 kW it will only be running for short periods of time because it will heat very quickly so if you have a well insulated pond or tank it may well be cheaper to run than a smaller heater? It's just that it will need a very big supply to run it as 9 kW is just under 40 amps at 230 volts.

Maybe a bit tight as it only gives you 5 amps to play with I would go for maybe a 50 amp or 63 amp supply to a small consumer unit in the filter room or garage and then run sockets and lights etc off of that. Just depends on what you are currently thinking of having electric wise to run your pond etc.

Separate supplies then, better job?
Then again, been advised not to put qt in same building/room as filter setup for pond, as one could affect the other, If I was having problems, filter/qt room was gonna be 12x8, but I think its gonna be a bit of a tight fit with it all and leave me with little room to change things, Tank maybe able to go in garage, I can also put a radiator in there to heat garage, one wall is the house wall and other wall is double skinned, insulate the roof and double door on back of garage to lower any heat lose.
The added bonus of that is that the consumer unit is a short distance away under stairs

Maybe better to heat the room and then use a smaller heater in the QT and that way you keep the condensation down. Keeping main pond and QT separate is a good idea for possible contamination issues. If you already have power in the filter room then use that to run the general bits and pieces for the pond and QT and if you do go for a big heater maybe run that as a separate supply as it would be cheaper in parts just need cable, isolator, MCB or RCBO and fixings and not an additional consumer unit etc.
