Is there a minimum and max flow rate for a shower as with other filters?
If it's flooding out everywhere that's past maximum!
Obviously head height and surface area all play a part.
My boxes are 600x400mm so what would be the ideal pump speed?

I haven't got that far yet!
I have 6 boxes that could be used or just some of them.
6 would be to high visually so I was thinking 2 sets of 3 or maybe4 boxes and the other 2 get used in the garage.
So the question about best flow was to help me decide which way to go.

Love this idea. I might need a Bakki shower for bio when I build my pond!

Hi, is there a reason for having the extra plate at top of the shower, wouldn't the spray bar be better on its own without drip plate?

Hi Fishpie,do you mean the plate directly under the spray bar ?
If so it is to help spread the water evenly over the media.John

The plate isn't needed but it helps to make sure the water flows evenly as it has loads of large holes in it.
I don't use any sponge or anything in it as I have a drum before it,but you could as it would do a good polish.
On my smaller shower on my grow on I use floss and a nylon sock but it needs to be cleaned daily so a chore.
The hardest part is finding the ideal container as a stackable one would be easiest.John

Blimey they are massive boxes Johnathan, you'll need shares in a media company to fill those up but you'll have the clearest and cleanest pond in the country LOL

I use grog in mine Johnathan and no problems.
Only real down side is the weight but I love it as it has loads of holes and it is cheap.
I bought some pumice but I don't think it is as good hardly any holes in it.John

Shame you are so far away from me Johnathan or you could have borrowed one of my combination ladders just not sure if the 1.8m would be enough or if you'd need the 3m ones. Maybe you could use a drone to check on the top once it's finished lol
I'll give you 'probably still finish it before Frim's QT' you young whipper snapper lol

LOL
Morning John.
Not too bad thanks, yourself?
Bit of a hard frost here this morning and still looks cold out at 9 am
Those boxes that Johnathan has got are packing crates used by removal companies when they are moving people's offices etc. I think you'll find? They probably hold 80 to 100 litres if they are the what I think they are? OK so he's not going to be filling them right to the top but you're probably looking at 30 litres per box so an Eazy Pods worth of media in each box at least Maybe a good option if he can get the right access equipment to reach the top box when completed. Just hope he's OK working at heights LOL
The ones I've seen have got lids same as the ones in his photos and the sides are sloped so would guess that the opening at the top of the box is between 2" to 4" wider and 2" to 4" longer than the flat section at the bottom. They have got a pair heavy duty metal handles and are fairly solidly made so if the sloping sides aren't an issue they may work well if they will stack together OK. Probably have to keep the interlocking lids closed and drill holes or slots etc. in them otherwise he'll need some supports between the crates? Personally I would be looking for something with non sloping sides so the boxes sit on top of each other instead of inside each other when the lids are removed but then again I may be wrong - again LOL
