Just had a look on ebay and this could be an option -
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PVC-Grey-...oAAOxyFrNRuIUl
Just need to drill out the 3" hole to fit over the sleeve of the slide valve if the 4" waste or pressure pipe won't fit straight over it tightly
enough? I don't want to fit another reducer between the elbow and the side valve as that will alter the length of the pipe work between the 2 filters and at this late stage could be a pain in the arse to then make other things fit again afterwards if that makes sense?

Just checked the sleeve of the 3" slide valve against the inside of a bit of 4" waste and pressure pipe. Both are about 2mm to 3mm too big so that kind of rules out them both and most likely drilling out a 4" to 3" reducing bush so it looks like it will have to be the 4" elbow straight on to the sleeve again.

Had a bit of a play around with the waste water water butt system the other day and the result looks like an octopus escaping from a couple of overweight Daleks
2019-06-26 16.57.01.jpg
Not sure how easy it is to see from the photo as I have aimed the camera a bit too low possibly.
The water from the roof of the shed and garage goes into the top of the left hand water butt through a Y branch fitting.
The waste water from the pond and QT goes into the top as well via the Y branch fitting through a 38mm or 40mm black flexi hose.
The water can either be pumped out onto the garden via a 1100 watt sump pump with float switch in the left hand water butt via the light blue flexi hose or straight to waste via the tap on the bottom of the left hand water butt via the white hose.
The right hand water butt has a 3500 lph pump in it and that pumps into the left hand water butt via a 32mm black flexi hose.
Also there is an over flow from the left hand water butt to the right hand water butt.
Just need to add an overflow on the right hand water butt connected to the white hose below it.
The idea is in the good weather the waste water from the pond or QT gets pumped into the left hand water butt when the filters get cleaned and if that fills up then it hopefully will over flow into the right hand water butt and then into the drain if the right hand water butt fills up. Then I use the 1100 watt sump pump to water the garden and the 3500 lph pump to empty the right hand water butt into the left hand water butt and carry on watering the garden.
In the bad weather I will just leave the tap open on the bottom of the left hand water butt so it just flows straight down the drain hopefully.
Originally I had a 13mm garden hose connected to the 3500 lph pump but it wasn't allowing enough flow so wouldn't pump from the right hand water butt to the left hand water butt quickly enough to keep up with the 1100 watt pump.
I haven't checked the flow rate with the 32mm flexi hose properly yet but it did seem to flow a bit faster but can always swap the 3500 lph pump for something a bit bigger and with a float switch so I don't have to keep an eye on it and switch it off before it pumps itself dry.

Looks like the 32mm pipe on the 3500 lph pump is a good improvement. Still a bit too early to say for sure but going by today's use it is looking good
Just need to rig up a float switch for it now so I can make it more useful and not need to keep plugging and unplugging it when I use it

OK quick update.
Nothing exciting really just gave the waste water saniflo system a try out yesterday and although it worked I had to fit an NRV on the pipe work as the water kept running back into the box the pump is in and triggering the pump as the outlet runs through the garage and then up and over the top of a raised water butt so the water can't fully escape. The NRV works but leaks as it is designed for 38mm pipe and the flexi pipe I have is 40mm Just need to sort out the leak now but at least the garage floor has a couple of nice clean spots and I know the system works There also appears to be a damp patch under the saniflo system which maybe just the lid isn't clamping down properly as one of the clips is bent out slightly so either need to straighten it or clamp the lid shut with a big jubilee clip as I can't be arsed to strip it back down again now as it was tight getting it all together in the first place.
