    just a quick look.
Buy online Green Tench The Carp Co
They are cheaper than the one smaller green tench I got a couple of years ago and that one didn't last much more than a couple of weeks if I remember rightly

I was thinking maybe this could be an option?

6-8" Breeding Pair Green Tench for sale/ The Carp Co

For that money I could even get two pairs just to make sure although I am not sure how easy it is to raise tench plus most of them would end up in the filters wouldn't they?

Tench are slow growers aren't they? So how many would you say was a decent number to keep in the QT?

2 to 4 lol. Thats a good deal. Don t get below 8 inch lol. With a dome on bd. If you have a grill you can get smaller. I only go for 8 inch because of dome

Getting back to the BD waste option.

As I have got to extend the pipe that is coming out of the ball valve I was thinking maybe just cut the pipe off about an inch or two before the elbow and fit a 3" flexi rubber boot T on it. The straight through outlet would then fed the Eazy Pod etc via an extra bend or something and the branched off outlet could have another valve on it with some fittings or pipe work to allow it to drain the system either by linking up with the waste outlets from the two filters or directly to waste via a reasonable sized flexi hose? As the two filters are going to be raised up I was thinking maybe the valve could be fitted under or near one of the stands for a filter so it is still accessible but not easy to accidentally open?

As you can see from the photos there is currently nothing on the BD but as I have to drain it down to move it again I didn't bother putting anything on it. I have the option of a dome or a grill so will choose nearer the time.

Are 4 8" tench going to be enough to keep the filters going in best part of 600 gallons of water including filters etc?

Can you two budge over and let me push in.

Trying to catch up on here as just come in from doing the q/t.
You were talking about draining the tank when needed Frim what I have just done is to put a strap on the 4ins pipe from bottom drain going under the tank to first bay, then a valve to waste.
I have 4ins pipe mind dont know what you are using.

Might need to see a photo John as I'm not quite with you on that description, Sorry .

My BD pipe work is all 3" pressure pipe and apart from the link between the two filters which again will be 3" pressure pipe, everything else is going to be 1.5" including the waste pipe work.

I've not had lunch so may explain my confusion LOL

Like this Frim, you drill a hole in pipe and glue this on and Insert a rubber boss inside to reduce to 1.5ins

But no good if your on 3ins pipe.
What you could do is where the pipe sweeps up to filter put a T there and reduce the straight on bit to 1.5ins and valve, this is what I did from my bottom drain to drum, where it bends up to drum put a T straight on bit short pipe then reduce to 1.5ins valve,so i can now drain the drum easily when needed.

As soon as I read your last description it made sense and I knew exactly what I was going to see when I tried your link John, thanks.

Well let's see what needs to be altered pipe work wise when I move the tank and the filters nearer to the corner of the garage as the current 3" pressure pipe elbow may stay where it is although swapping it for a flexi rubber boot elbow would give me more of a sweeping bend wouldn't it?
