Thread: Quarantine build and set up

Well as I mentioned earlier on in this thread I'm going 3" pressure pipe from the BD to the barrel filter and then 1.5" pressure from the pump back to the QT. This is the plan anyway as I already have some 3" pressure pipe with a ball valve and 2 elbows on ready to go so will see how well it flows and go from there. If I have to ditch the elbows and fit swept bends then will just cut them off and fit rubber boots as the bends and valve unions were already glued to the pipe when I got them a while ago when I bought a cetus sieve from a member on here.

Nice one Andi and as I mentioned earlier I'll get a measurement of the square size so I know the correct size to look for.
Was just thinking that if the holes in the grate are too big (is 12mm going to be too big) then if I put something small in the QT it's possible it could get something caught in the grate couldn't it?

I knew you'd be thinking that and you are kind of right.
I didn't want it facing the opposite way so it came out from under the QT the same way yours does as I only have about 2ft or 600mm space to walk through and didn't want the risk of someone or something trying to get past it and knocking something off or shutting the ball valve slightly without realising what they'd done.
You were on the right track though.

mine is quite tight the way i have it too, you have to walk in then close the door to get in to the rest of the garage. just been out and its not raining in the garage so the lid is working

the door is on the side pretty much where the pipework comes out.
the lid is 2 600mm x 2000mm sheets lengthways. I didnt see what Andi suggested??

I like it Frim looks really good.
Think you are worrying a bit about the 3ins pipe,it is only a fraction smaller than 4ins [ 90mm to 110mm ] and it will be fine.
Ok i use 4ins push fit with 3 bends before going into the vortex and it is great with a 10000 pump on it.
Only a suggestion but i used a 8x4 ft sheet of polystyrene from a builders yard and very cheap, put it on the concrete then the tank on top and another sheet between the wall and the tank, you could then use as Sep has for the outside.
If the bends dont line up why not cut the pipe and use a straight rubber so you will get more adjustment, may work.
E/a are good for boots and the post is ok.John

Nice one John, thanks.
Did you notice the mistake? You have seen this thread more regularly so may remember it better lol
Like the polystyrene suggestion although as the gap between the garage floor and the bottom of the tank is about 8" or 200mm in new money, would I still need to insulate the bottom of the QT if it is insulated round the sides and over the top if I can sort out a lid?

On looking again the only way the pipe can come out from under the tank is between the legs!!! a bit awkward but do-able.
Cant over insulate, maybe a roll of bubble wrap off ebay wrapped round the tank as well.
Just looked on e/a site and they havnt got any boots in.John
