polycarb would be ideal for a cover, just slope it backwards as you will get condensation build up in winter, andi

Just be careful you don't fall into the standard QT trap.

    How this goes:
Someone decides they need a QT for new fish prior to adding to the main pond, and for treating sick fish in.

They buy a suitably sized tank for this and set it up. So far so good.

Now they see some small grow on fish they quite fancy so buy these and put them into the QT, turning it basically into a grow on setup.

Then they realise when they have a sick fish that they actually still don't have a QT

I'm assuming it shouldn't be too difficult to cut a bottom drain into it as I've got some large hole saws. Just need to sort out what size to go for now.

Thanks for your concern but I'm not planning on getting any more fish at the moment or the foreseeable future.

OK will look into that and also speak to them about cutting holes for various things.

I'm assuming it will need to be insulated underneath as well as the sides.

A 4" tank and a 6ft bottom drain - now that would take some reducer lol.

as a sheet of insulation is 8x4 then use 2 sheet for underneath and the piece you cut off will do a 4x2 end,so 2 sheets should do whole thing, andi

    Nice one Andi.

Does the tank need to be raised to allow the insulation to go under it or does it just sit on the top of it?

Yes but that still leaves me with the question of does the tank sit directly on the insulation or does it need to be sitting on battens with the insulation in the gaps?

If it was me i would put insulatio under then sit whole thing on a piece of ply.just cutout for bd in insulation and ply.this will sandwich insulation between tank and ply so whaterver you then raise tank with wont press into insulatio.get my drift .andi
