So in my eyes . Thats proven. As for any other type of light. I aint got a clue.
But some uv lights. In the open. Say above your tank if you looked at it.
    They damage your eyes lol.

I saw you had a vapour proof fluorescent fitting over your tank Fred and just thought that it was a standard type fitting with daylight tubes in and by daylight I mean they give off a more natural colour than either warm white or cool white as opposed to giving off any kind of UV like that is actually harmful to the naked eye.

Thanks Andi that's basically the same as Fred's fluorescent tubes as it's just a colour they give out. Also it would explain the lack of algae and blanket weed growth due to lack of true UV sunlight in QTs.

Sorry if it was an odd question but it was one of those things that got me thinking and I was overthink it again lol

I'm assuming you have the light or lights set on timers or light sensors to mimic the current hours of daylight throughout the year or do you just set them to come on for a specific amount of hours every day?

Thanks Ann, at the moment i'm kind of stuck between 300, 350. 450 and 500 gallons.

300 would go in the shed where my Eazy Pod is but may be a bit tight with the additional filters etc. anything from 350 upwards will have to go in the garage due to it won't fit through the side door or the back door of the shed.

That 350 is quite well shaped as it's a reasonable depth compared to other 300 and 350 tanks I've seen but would require a transit or similar to collect it. A lot of the private ebay sellers seem reluctant to courier anything but some of the proper companies say they might courier it for a price obviously.

Another thing I've been considering on a different subject is swapping the Eazy Pod with a Nexus for the main pond and then using the Eazy Pod on the QT. I just don't know enough about the Nexus to make a decision but I know you can buy a drum that sits in the middle of some of them. I know there's a 200 and a 300 but there are different versions of each of them. There seem to be more of them on ebay than there are Eazy Pods.

Talk about confused.com I think I prefer to compare meerkats lol

Regards the courier frim, put it up on ''Anyvan '' on line couriers, give the size, roughly the weight,
where its to be picked up from, delivered to, and once its up on line they bid you for your Business,
so the price comes down. I had to get a boiler up to north wales and I paid around 80.00 loads
cheaper than some of them and no worry's at all. It sounds complicated, but if I can do it anyone can
Have a look at their Web page, it tells you how to do it.

Thanks Ann, I have used interparcels in the past for the barrel filter from Ant and it was about 20 but that was uninsured. Got a quote last week for an Eazy Pod with it insured for 220 and I think that was about 20 as well. Obviously a QT will be more expensive to courier due to size and weight but some of the proper companies are saying 30 to 50 which isn't bad as it would cost more than that to hire a van and put fuel in it. I will give Anyvan a look though as I may need to sell my Cetus Sieve on here or Ebay in the coming weeks if I can get another Eazy Pod or go for a Nexus whatever lol

I'm looking at new tank prices here.

My thinking on tank sizes are - the price and size difference between a 350 and a 450 is what you'd expect and makes either one a viable option but the price difference between a 450 and a 500 is quite significant and kind of starts to rule out a 500.

Also I think the price difference between a 300 and a 350 kind of rules out a 300, so the only thing that makes a 300 worth considering is if it has to go in a particular place that the other sizes can't go.

Another consideration is the bigger the tank the heavier it is so the more difficult it will be to move it around on my own if no one's available to give me a hand at the time.
