Filter & garden shed... made of pallets?!
Hi all,
As some of you may be aware, I'm in the process of planning a filter and filter/garden shed upgrade.
I've come across the idea of a shed made of pallets - which sounds great as the wood's obviously made to last and sturdy, you can virtually use the pallets as 'pre-fab' units to some extent for the walls etc. and I could probably get them free!
Anyone done anything similar?

no..but you'd deffo get them for free. If you see any building sites locally ask them cause they're a pain in the backside to get rid of for a builder. We had 30-40 at least, some of them went to the dump/in skips but Mrs BCC put the last ones on Facebook marketplace (FOC for collection) and people were round within 30 minutes to pick them up to use for outdoor projects.
If I'd have thought of that sooner I'd have saved a few quid in waste charges.

very good idea , BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you try to take them to pieces to use some of the wood its a nightmare. they use ring nails to put them together and to get them out is nearly impossible with out splitting the wood which you want.
the only thing i have found that half does it is a wrecking bar with a bolster chisel welded on the hook end which gives a bit more support to the plank that you want.
have a go first before you get 100 pallets cos you might be making a lot of kindling
best of luck jim

Thanks BCC/Jim. I've seen some special leveraging tools you can buy to get the nails out... hmmm, food for thought....
