What’s the difference between using a conventional bakki shower against a tower

Sorry if I seem thick ( I,m new) but Iv got an unused 500 ltr plastic water barrel and I,m thinking of changing the outlet in the base to cope with a large amount of water going through ,about 25000 ltrs an hr .would it work as well as shower trays

A Bakki shower is a brand of stainless steel shower. There are many different types of shower out there, and many people make their own.

Personally I think the main distinction between the types of design are high flow rate showers (usually intended to be oxygenating too) and trickle showers (which can be run in an anoxic way or can have a good air flow through them depending on what you want to achieve.

Iv been thinking of making something like the attached photo but half size , just can’t decide. If I could find how to get air into the tank I,v. Got it would be easier , then I need to know what media to use , can’t get crystal bio would lava rock work , that’s available and cheapish

Hi John, sounds like you have a good size barrel there, not too sure what you are wanting to do,that is a shower in the pics is that what you are wanting to make? if so you wont need any air in there as it makes its own oxygen or maybe you want a bio chamber in which case you can use air stones from a manifold.

Sorry if i have misunderstood you.

I think lava rock is similar to alphagrog which would be ok in a shower though it can be heavy so must be well supported, thats what i use in my grow on shower.

Hi thanks for reply , yes you,ve misunderstood me , I,m trying to decide which way to go . It’s not a barrel it’s a water storage tank we use them a lot in Thailand . But I have it already and I,v seen one done but a long time ago and it had holes cut in the sides with tank connectors and 90d bends and pipes going above top of tank in 1 1/2 pipe to pull air in so as the water was sprayed over the media but don’t know if it works . What I don’t want is to use an air pump . If that won’t work then I was looking at doing as in the photo with a huge bakki shower type system full of baskets .
