Has anyone around the Essex area used GEE-GRP for their ponds?

No, but interested to see who you eventually use and any recommendations as I will be needing fibreglassing in the near future.

I saw a post somewhere that GRP are fully booked to the end of the year. I think it was while I was watching his YouTube videos. There is another guy on here that has started his own pond business and does fibreglassing. I saw some pictures of a 5500 gallon pond he has recently glassed and although I have no clue about fibreglass in any way it looked very good. The guys user name on here is silent sniper and he has got me out of a hole on a number of occasions. May be worth a call.

Would be good to hear peoples views and suggestions on other fibreglass installers, Mark at GRP on his videos looks very professional and great at his job however he does come across as if he is the only person in the world who knows about fibreglassing, personally my build is small enough that I am confident I can give it a go and get it right, as long as you get the prep work, temp, resin to hardener correct along with rolling out any air bubbles you would have to make a big mistake not to get it water tight even before the flow coat goes on, I intend to get a great finish but once the pond ages and a layer of inevitable crud (with good bacteria I add) coats the fibreglass then really who cares as long as it is neat and tidy.
Yes the smell of GRP is horrid, but manageable if you fan/ventilate the covered pond area well.
It's fibreglassing...........not rocket science, *caveat - I may update this following completing mine next spring!!

That would be me that Craig is talking about, fibreglassing isn’t rocket science!
The best thing I was taught about fibreglass? Don’t panic when you feel the jelly stage, keep working what you have left and start a fresh batch!
Heres that 5500 gallon pond Craig was on about 812736D1-D0D9-4A92-95BB-F92BF73AD5D7.jpg

When you Google the company originally mentioned it appears that their bulk business is fibre glassing flat roofs, so they would appear to have a wealth of knowledge across the industry. I used a company based in Kent that are exactly the same, they weren't the cheapest but they appeared the most professional. They arrived here in France on a Thursday, started the following day and were gone by Sunday lunchtime, really looked a good job, and once dried out I crept in to have an inspection. Run my hand over the finished job and Christ nearly lacerated my palm on bits sticking out, immediately on the phone to head office, the owner was as pleased with the result as I was and agreed that it could not be left in that state, so suggested that I rub it down and he would despatch a tin of paint via a courier, he would of course reimburse me for the sandpaper!!!. So tracking the consignment of paint, I eventually found it had been returned by DHL to sender as it was deemed dangerous goods, then the next day I am told they have located a dealer not an hour away from me, where is this going?? Eventually I got in touch with them and they told me that they had sent the order, by mistake, back to the buyer in the UK, but would send me one tomorrow. It was then they informed me that this was not a straightforward open the tin and paint job, which is when I thought, no way. I insisted they send someone back to remedy their mistake and that is what they did, he arrived about 3 pm, rubbed down repainted and drove back to the UK same day, next day inspection proved OK all nice and smooth, thought leave it a couple of days to cure in the sun. 24 hrs. later put my hand over it and nearly got stuck to it, evidently the sun had affected it, need to shade it which I did for a couple of days, all OK. Hold on a minute it's a different shade of green. So we now have a patchwork quilt, which I know given time and algae will blend in, but what an absolute comedy of errors. Is there a moral? Flat roofs are different from ponds fit for KOI, could I recommend my contractors, don't think so, got there in the end eventually, it is full of water and it hasn't shown any signs of leaking as yet, but now I have the enviable task of choosing a guinea pig to "test the water", before putting the rest back in
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
