Hi Tom, Same as Phils by the sounds of things, Tuffix of Liverpool, 3 x 11mm triple glazed 33mm total thickness which going by the pond builder is over requirements but nice to know I have some built in buffer...….. my window is 1800 x 1000 x 33 thanks Steve.

Love the background on the back wall to, been wondering what to do with my side wall as it backs onto my boundary wall and I think you may have solved the issue for me

the existing window was 80mm x 50mm so after taking that out i angle ground the new rebate ..then to get a perfect flat finish i made up some shuttering and filled with cement with plenty of pva mixed in for adhesion ......i also drilled and screwed in large bolts on sides and left them protruding about 2 inches to give more strength when the cement was poured in P1010238.jpg

Mine is around same height as you're planning and 2m wide, and thickness is 25.5mm. Here is the spec on my order:

    12mm Tgh Clear / 1.5mm Resin Interlayer / 12mm Tgh Clear
    Polished Edge (TBLR)
    Dubbed Corner (4)
    Heatsoaked

    Height 780

    Width 2150

    Area1.68

    It weighed 109kg.

Hi Feline, I still unable to decide on window thickness Tuffx wouldn't commit to giving advice on the thickness just offered me 2, 25.5mm and 31,5mm, decided on size on window overall 1800mm x 800mm including the 75mm fitting area. tempted to go 25.5 at 432 quid and at 31.5 its 516 quid, is it worth the etc 84 quid for 6mm more thickness

plus the extra pasties and drinks for the helpers as they 6mm over the total area is a lump more fragile mass to shift around your garden, and when tuffx come they have always been a driver only and expect you to assist in offloading from the waggon.

Tried to order it over phone today, guy told me that I had to email them for a quote, wait for quote then go ahead if I wished, I'd phoned earlier and then rung back to order and guy told me the above.

TuffX are not structural engineers so if you want to go direct to the manufacturer in this way (which does save a heap of money) then you need to decide on the thickness you want yourself.

I looked closely what Atlantica Gardens and others were speccing before I decided on mine.
One thing I would say is if you go for thicker glass it will be massively heavy. I don't think we could have fitted mine in the way we did getting the neighbours round etc. without a crane or other heavy machinery if it had been any heavier.

It took 4 of us to offload my glass, it was delivered by a man in a van as Bowsaw said, it was upright on a pallet horse like structure, the van had no tail lift (so helpful) as it was loaded with a forklift !! we slid it out the lorry on some cardboard and then gently took it off but it was very very heavy and very awkward, once we walked down my drive and around the side of the house we then had the challenge of putting it down without chipping it or the last man holding not losing his fingers !!! it was not a nice experience Tom and as Feline says you will need some strong guys its very slippery and awkward especially placing it in the recess, lots of planning and forward thinking needed in advance of your delivery which can also turn up at 7am !!! such fun Tom

I went through Atlantic’s gardens for a 2450x550x33 and it was £555 delivered
Strangely they beet Tufx quote Viewing windows
Don’t quite no how that come about
Maybe the amount of glass they order
It turned up straight from tuffx
The driver was spot on with me , I asked him on the phone about help lifting and he said no problem if not to far
As I had guys on standby
Two of us managed it but it was a good level drive to walk on and not too far and I had 6 fence posts to lay it straight on to save fingers
Wouldn’t want to do it to often it was a squeaky bum moment
