do you need a frame ?...i know it looks better having the glass right at the front ....but it really bumps up the costs...and dont forget to order plenty of mastic.....whatever you decide on it will look fantastic as it really illuminates the whole of the pond ....

all the weight is on bottom edge anyway.... the frame in my view is purely for aesthetics....fitting directly into concrete seems much more solid too

Not a fan of windows but Tom if I was to have one it would be an infinity one with no frame.

at least if you don't like it you can easily hide that viewing point with plants etc, but harder to go back retrospective and add it,
due to slight defects I could have windows on all sides if I wanted as tuffex resupplied the order and had no desire to take the waste away, not fount the enthusiasm to shift the spares or make use of them yet though.the slow pond build thread

sorry to hi jack the thread, but thought better than to start my own as will be relevant.
How did people fit their windows? I Have the recess cut into the insulation and fibreglassed over, So I was thinking its a case of putting CT1 all around the recess then basically put the window into position and push it in? Would this be adequate or does it need to be held in place for a few days whilst the sealant goes off? Window is 1800mm x 670mm

Think a lot of people use glass suckers and a ladder with a couple straps to pull it in tight for a couple days mate

Do people use plastic spacers at the bottom edge to stop the glass squishing all the sealant out?

Spacers came with my window. But didn't use them. Just put lots in and squashed it
Up. With pull on ratchet. You want it to squeeze out. Means it's got hold of the glass lol. Then did the outer seal after 24 to 48 hours. With masking tape.

Just be aware that Tuffx and most will quote standard glass which when in 3 plates will show more of the green tint to it. YOu need to ask for the crystal glass if you want it gin clear. They were about the same price as Mr Koi BTW.

put my glass in about an hour ago with CT1. has clamps at the top and suckers in the middle with straps and a ladder to hold in place tight and is looking good! Just the waiting game now I think I need to return the suckers to my mate tomorrow evening but hopefully by that point the ct1 will have done its job
