    Pond pipework leak

Looking for some advice on a leak on my new pond pipework. I have a leak from my pipework connecting to my pipe.

I brought these to connect my pump to my pipework.

    https://www.pond-planet.co.uk/pond-c...le-union-p2900

But I am getting a drip from them.
They did not come with a washer. Do I need one or do I need some tape for the connection like this:

    Many thanks in advanced

It should have an O ring fitted inside. If it's missing ask them to send you one. Meanwhile you can use the PTFE tape from screwfix if the leak is out the threaded end as opposed to coming from the union itself.

The leak is from the threaded end. Does it need tape or should it be ok without it?

PTFe tape or silicon grease. Use a pair of big stilson grips to tighten it up.

Be very careful with silicone, not all is fish safe, I wouldn't use it at all in my pond, PTFE will solve your problem if its leaking from the thread, as Rayman says, put loads around the male thread
4600 Gallon Concrete Block and Fiberglass
2100 mm x 710 mm Infinity Window 32mm thick glass
2 x Aerated Bottom Drains and Skimmer
    Filtreau HiFlow 30 Drum Filter
    Bio Chamber - 140 litres K1
Bakki Shower - 30 KG Sakura Far Infrared Media
    2 x 18,000 lh pumps
Heated from house boiler through a heat exchanger
    Idealseal MS290

    Pond pipework leak

I would also use plumbers tape on the threads to the pump. Build up the tape from the front to the back of the thread, as to create a taper. That way the fitting will become tighter as you screw it on.
Hand tight should be enough to seal the joint.

Thanks all. Brought some tape today and it solved the issue on the threaded connectors. I have a couple of other pipes which are dripping but I'll tackle them tomorrow.

Yeah the threaded pressure pipe fittings are not designed to use O rings, so you always need a bit of ptfe tape on the threads.
