I haven't had time to post for a few days but the blockwork is now complete:-

I have left a space on the left for the skimmer to be installed:-

I have left room to install 2 tangible returns but have not fixed them in place yet:-

Now I need a bit of advice... Do I need to fix these to the blocks and then add the insulation over the top of them or add the insulation and then attach these to the insulation? then the fibreglass goes over the top of these?

My returns where with out the plates. Cut at an angle. Rendered. Then fiber glassed
Over and Inside the pipe. With celotex Someone else who has done it that way will have to comment. Looking good mate.

Thanks familyman, nice to see your still sticking around!

Things are now going to be moving a lot slower as I think I will be doing the rest of the work myself.

Just waiting on the skimmer and some pipework to arrive then I can get the fibreglass booked in

Been a while since I updated this thread mainly due to the weather, and working on my own.

Since my last post I have only installed the skimmer, finished off the block work, installed all underground pipework (skimmer, waste and heater) and backfilled most of it in.

The next steps are to conplete backfilling and install some sort of base for the filter house, then the pond will be going on hold as the boss has put her foot down and said I have to sort the garden because shes sick of the mess.

Sorry still no pictures.... I was working till it got dark last night and ran out of time. I'll try harder tonight.

Soooo the next big part of the build is lining the pond. Im going with fibreglass but have had very little quotes back well actually i have gotten 3 quotes. The cheapest was £1200 but he doesnt recomend fibreglassing onto insulation and wont do the job if i insulate. The next best quote was £1600 from a guy that comes recomended but usually does roofs and then the last quote was £1980 with insulation from a company that has done many ponds and is highly recomended on a facebook group I am a member of.

If money was no object I would go with the biggest quote but then i have my tight arse cap on and think wow £2000 for fibreglass am I mad?

This is now steering my down the DIY route but I have seen a few disaters so am a bit wary of this.

I did find a good post (on here i think) a while back with step by step instructions but cant find it now.

    Any thoughts?

    OK, some pictures as promised:-

An overview of the finished blockwork, there is a loose brick in there as I'm still not sure if I am going to have 2 underwater returns from the bakki shower:
    20200428_164146.jpg
    Skimmer has been installed:-

    20200428_164315.jpg
I have now buried all the pipework and cables and laid down some old flagstones that have been removed from the other side of the garden:
    20200428_164111.jpg
Pipework installed to heater, this area is going to get a new patio so heater just roughly put in place:

Now, I think the pond is going on hold while I sort the garden a little bit as it is currently an useable mess which isn't very good at the moment especially due to lockdown.
