Yeah they said they would send a replacement but it's been about 10 days now and I have messaged them twice, going to escalate things on Tuesday if I don't hear anything. Have decided to set my old marine tank up for them over the winter months and then will put the new tank into use next year! I'll get some pictures of that later and I'll get a picture of the pleco when I do my water change this afternoon.
Cheers
Chris

Sorry it’s a rubbish picture but here’s the new pleco, about 1 inch long. It’s an L144 yellow with blue eyes. Should get up to around 5 or 6 inches and will go a nice deep yellow. Will keep the post updated.
Also did a few pictures of the fish to keep track of growth etc. They don’t mind being picked up as the go straight back to eating when I drop them back in haha.

They are looking good mate, skin quality and colouration is very good on most of them.
The white Ranchu with the red head and tail is stunning and has a perfect back and perfect body shape, can't fault it. Just hope it retains the red as sometimes they turn completely white. I wonder if this one has a joined tail or single anal fins simply because they don't normally sell on fish of this quality otherwise, unless you're paying a premium.
I know you're someone who doesn't mind critique, so I'll get it off my chest, a couple seem to have single anal fins and joined tails. Majority of fry from these will also have single anals and joined tails, and then you'll start getting single tails in the spawnings.
Just something to watch for.... Having perfect fry ruined by a single tail is really frustrating as a breeder.
There was also one in a previous video you posted that looked like it might suffer swim bladder issues in the future, can't remember which one now but it was a white one with red on top.
How did the fry disappear, do you know?

Thanks Rs, yep as you know I love critique! The red on the “tancho” style one has stayed so far so fingers crossed, all of them have retained their good colouration which is nice, haven’t changed like the Koi used to do haha. I haven’t noticed any with single anal fins but you might be right, it’s very hard to see. When I put them in the aquarium it might become a bit more obvious. Yes as you said quite a few have joined tails that are only split at the top. I don’t really mind this as I won’t be showing them, I think about 3 of them have nice split tails. I have no idea what happened to the fry, I’m a bit gutted but onwards and upwards. They were in a floating fry cage that was attached to the side of the tank. They slowly disappeared but I have no idea how! Never saw them again. If I get into breeding next year, as you say I will need to select fish with good split tails. Yes there is one which has a slight bouncy issue I think, when it feeds I can see its back end floats up a bit, not sure what I can really do about it. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!
Cheers

Unfortunately there's not a lot you can do with the floaters, 90% of the time its hereditary.
Easily digested food especially shelled peas can help if its constipation or too much air intake from floating food, but if the poo looks normal and healthy that again implies hereditary.
Due to the body shapes its hard for them to regulate their swim bladder.
When the fish becomes really bad and floats on the surface you can use a needle to withdraw some air out of the swimbladder. Never done it myself but there are a few youtube videos by vets detailing the process.
Swimbladder issues were the worst part of the hobby for me, but fortunately Ranchu don't suffer from it as much as other fish, so you may find yours is fine for a good few years before any real balance problems start.
Only 10 years ago it was almost impossible to buy the quality of Ranchu you have there without knowing a breeder through a club etc, so whilst I've been critical they are all still very high quality fish which I'm sure you're aware of.
On the calicos a blue base is very desirable and the photo of the top one displays this really well.

Yeah I only feed sinking food as well as veggies and bloodworm to try and prevent this. Will just have to see what happens. Awesome thanks for the kind words I hope they will grow well and will see how they do over the next 6 months indoors. I know what style of ranchu I want next but that’s something for next year. They call them “milk cows” a calico with more prominent black dots and large red patches, more like a Sanke really.

No problem at all, I know it's not really koi related but wanted to stay active on the forum in some way. Hopefully when my glass actually arrives I can finally update the thread and show the finished tank! Just have to silicone the glass and the filter box in, then leave it to cure and then I will do a test fill.

You might also discover that goldfish forums simply don't have the level of expertise that you'll find on here. There's a lot of bad advice banded about on most of them.
Personally I love reading about it on here so hopefully you'll keep posting.

Yeah I did find that, there are a few goldfish forums but they don’t seem to be very active and most people are based in America. I am part of a few Facebook groups which are more active but I have, and always will love the great advice and activity this forum has. Thanks Rs!

So! Look what finally arrived yesterday! At last I managed to get the window sealed in. I used two beads of silicone and then sealed it on the outside and inside. I also had plenty of silicone to attach the filter which I also sealed around the outside. Will give it a test fill on Saturday. In total the build has cost me £140.86 including the glass and filter etc. Luckily I already had wood filler and the paints I needed. I’m really happy with the final product, it will need another coat of white on the outside. I can then hopefully put the fish in next spring!
Cheers Chris

Not really sure where I could mount them, maybe something for the future. The Ranchu will probably be coming inside in about 2 or 3 weeks time, will post a picture of the tank they will be going into. I’m excited to get my light over them and really make the colours pop!
Cheers
