Yeah the current one has a poly carb roof so will take that apart and use it on the new pond. The new one has better insulation and a larger water volume so should keep the heat in better.
Nice! Good luck with the pearlscales they are so funny looking. Tbh I’m really loving the Ranchu and they are growing well, need to make a few new videos but have been rushed off my feet this week with uni graduation and job interviews ect.

Yeah had quite a few options come up but just waiting to hear back from a few places, so fingers crossed. Yeah I always overlooked the fancy goldfish. Saw them as a basic boring fish but after my friend got some Ranchu I realised they were just like Koi! Selected for loads of different reasons and they can have cool colour patterns and cute body shapes. Love how they swim and how fat and chubby they get haha

So was considering to use fibreglass or an epoxy paint to seal the tank, I then remembered I had a huge tin of black rubber pond paint, although maybe not the best, it would assist with the movement of the wood and I had so much that I could do lots of coats. Here’s a picture with the first coat on.

Got the silicone this week which is gold label and the window will be ordered tomorrow. Aiming to have the tank finished by next weekend and then filled up the weekend after.

Yeah After using pond paint I definitely would not paint my whole pond with it, bit risky. Fibreglass all the way, it was only because I had it in the shed and it’s a very strong ridged structure that won’t be moving much. I have a lot so will be doing 5/6 coats which also reassures me. And yeah as you say, if it scrapes off I can just reapply it.

So been busy over the past few days, managed to get another 4 coats of black paint on the inside and outside of the structure. Also did some sanding and smoothing down. Unfortunately the tank is a bit lumpy in areas from the glue I used but I’ll just have to cope with that. I could clad it at a later date but I’m happy with it so far. Here’s a picture! The lump at the back is where I will be able to mount my light if I bring the tank indoors. Need to start getting ideas for the polycarbonate roof next.

So got my filter sorted for the new pond, it will sit in the corner and have an overflow weir which will then go through a couple of sponges and as much biomedia as I can fit. The ease of maintenance will be much better than the one I have already and the heater also sits inside it. Managed to snag one on eBay for only £10.50! Result

Yeah this one will be much better and I’m not sure yet, I’ll have to see what the pleco’s are like in the new pond otherwise I may get rid of them.

Another little update, managed to get all five coats of black onto the inside and out, next job is 4 coats of weatherproof outdoor paint onto the outside. It’s starting to look like a tiny version of the main pond haha.

Yeah I’ll put all the prices up at the end but I think all in it should be under £150! And gives me practise if I do a bigger one later in life.

Exactly, and if it all goes wrong I haven’t really lost much. Just have to see what happens, planning on installing the glass on Saturday!
