Leak repair
28 x 18 x 6 ft deep, box welded liner, I thought it was Butyl, but evidently EPDM, I thought it was the extreme heat and evaporation but it got a bit too much after a few days, up with the intex pool, transfer fish, and pump out. Found a 6 inch vertical split low down in one corner and two puncture holes in the diagonally opposite one about the same height.
Pond is constructed of concrete reinforced base, I know 11 m3 of muck went in , 9 inch blockwork with reinforcement all round, which was covered and lined completely with 2 inch polystyrene sheets, then liner which was a perfect fit. Been in about 11 years, nothing has invaded behind the liner, polystyrene still in place, so what is the procedure for repair, I have a few bits of the liner , which came on the delivery pallet so can poss use them. Have a couple of photos if anyone can run me through how to upload them, TIA.

Thanks I've seen this repair tape but the gash in one corner is quite large, I don't think it will hold when the liner goes back to the wall under pressure when filled, I am trying to liaise with the company that supplied the liner through the vendor to me, it is all rather complicated as he moved to the states a few years back. Evidently the manufacturers want a piece of the liner 18" square to consider a warranty claim and it has to go to Sweden to be assessed, all a load of bull to put you off as far as I can see. The fabricators of the liner are supposed to be sending me a repair kit, but apart from that I have now got in the other corner, what looks like 4 bullet holes, one under the other, which I am hoping will seal after a generous amount of Goldseal is pumped in and a patch put over the top. The trouble is now that underneath the liner is a fair amount of water, it's like walking on a water bed, and I don't know if it is the water table or trapped from the leak, using a Vax to slowly get it out, but it's like Dante's inferno down in the pond, anyway Wiltec pressure filter just arrived, broken of course, for temporary pond so fish are in there for the past couple of days, and seem perfectly OK at the moment, prior to the pond being commissioned they were in a 13 ft round Intex albeit with a Nexus 300 and UV for 3 years and survived.
Another anomaly is that whilst catching the fish I have a couple of sort of Chagoi , which when netted bled profusely from the gills, but as soon as they were returned to the temp pond not a trace of blood and they are swimming around naturally.

Don't worry to much about the fish bleeding from the gills, think its a stress thing, I turn to the bottle ( not really )
and fish bleed from the gills, and as you said their ok now so all's hunky dorey ….

MOH done a Google on this and apparently there is some aquatic larvae that attacks the liner and makes what looks like bullet holes in it, exactly what I have found. The suppliers of the liner have done absolutely SFA regarding it and tell me that it is only guaranteed 10 years, I thought these things lasted for ages.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
