With that rectified the tank stopped overflowing, but the KK1000 was stacking up a bit and I'm paranoid it will block up.

So hopefully this will be the solution. Typical of ponds/aquariums tho, change one simple thing and the knock on effect means you spend the rest of the day tweaking the whole system! Good Job I enjoy it.

... And I managed to do the whole thing whilst wearing my own shoes.
    ... And pants.

It's a learning curve I suppose. I thought, I'll get round to that at some point and now I've learnt not to put things off.

A 2" (50mm) dirty water pump strainer has done the trick. £3.29 from China on ebay!

Christ knows what it is, but it measures
    EXTERNAL
    LENGTH 264CM
    WIDTH 170CM
    DEPTH118CM

    INTERNAL
    LENGTH 250CM
    WIDTH 153CM
    DEPTH 115CM

So its 967 gal or 4398 litres! I paid £350.
Just need to fibreglass a couple of window frames!

... Apparently its a water tank off a ship and there's more of them!
It basically was a massive toilet cistern

It comes with a strange sliding lid. Don't reckon i'll be using that.

Still haven't got a delivery date, but getting excited.
Mocked up, roughly, where the windows will go. Probably going for a 1200cm wide x 500cm tall(or 600) on the long side and a 600x 500 (or 600) on the short side. The long side view is from my kitchen window and the short side is viewable from my living room. Looks like I've got a bush to get rid of...
    ... And a deflated crocodile

I will probably bury it 30cm and fibreglass an extra 30cm ish (the width of a scaffold plank) on the top of it when i do the windows, making it more like
    250 x 150 x 150 and 1240 uk gallons and 5625 litres.
I only want to replace my yamabuki ogon and maybe one or two additions. So 6 koi.
Question is, is that enough volume for one of those 6 koi to be the Gin Rin Chagoi I've got my eye on? Or should I Stick with 5 koi if one is a chagoi?
This will be the 'forever' pond, but filtration will be upgraded as they grow.
    I will insulate it too.

The troops looking fed up, they thought they were coming round for a cup of tea. Courier was cracking up about it tho!
It was a real pain to get up the drive. It will be an absolute nightmare to get round the corner up the hill to its final resting place. So i'm either gonna not extend it and stick with 1000gal, or make the extension up to slot in and fibreglass it when its in loacation.
I Will measure up for the windows and mull it all over

The courier said that when they were loading it. They said these tanks are from Bernard Matthews Factory!? And they have 100 of them!!!

Cheap clean IBC came up locally and an even cheaper vortex! The IBC will be my holding tank during the swap over and then will form some part of the filter as the fish grow or I may retain it as a quarantine.
The vortex is probably double the size I was expecting! Is it a bit OTT? I don't mind that usually but space will be an issue for filtration if I use the space next to the pond to avoid it being an eyesore.
