Not done much to the pond recently, Every spare moment has been spent painting the fences and tidying up part of the garden for the next part of the project.
What I have made a start on though is the Post Base surrounds.
This was the ugly metal post anchors.which don't look that bad from this side, but the back side has 2 screw anchor points which look real ugly.
Found a lump of Oak in the workshop so I cut this to size and run it though the jointer and planner then mitred the edges and put a 45 degree mitre on the top. Clamped and glued in place to prevent the need for screws.
Once dry, I gave it a sand down and a coat of paint.
Still need to caulk the bottom of the surround to the sandstone tiles once I've cleaned them up.
Which brings me to the question. What's the best way to clean them ? I obviously don;t want to use chemicals. I was thinking of a wire brush on a drill. But wondering if anyone else has found a good solution.
Did a quick bit of wiring as the air on my bottom drain is always on but now and then I may want to see the koi clearly or show them off to guests, So I fitted a switch between the live at a more accessible point rather than having to go into the pump house to turn the air off each time.
