Half the coping on and half the render. Finish the job tomorrow.
Bit of a spike in ammonia at .3. Fish seem fine. Find it strange as I did 30 percent water change.
I don't pre filter the water either and chlorine rate is still 0 or as close to it as it can read.
Will monitor ammonia and reduce feeding. Need to get shower up and running also.

Not much to report on it. Taking shape now. I have a few more coping stones to fix on and paint it. Not mixing cement in this weather!
Ordered a new heater, elecro with digital thermostat as the old one was on an atc 800+. Didn't really want that.
Should be here soon.
Starting to look like a pond though. The bug is definitely back that's for sure.
Fitted another switch box that I will wire in when weather is less likely to fry me. Can install some lights and Bluetooth speaker system for the decking area which will need a good jet wash and staining when done.
Then box in the filter house and that will be it for a while. Toying with the idea of putting a T in bottom drain and having a separate small filter running off it to heater and mid level return leaving the nexus to feed the shower but I need a small bead or something. See what happens later.

Noticed the usual fines issue with running a nexus on high volume.
Toying with the idea of popping one of my eazypods in and converting it to Micro K1. To run a small 8k pump through heater and back through mid level return.
Currently have the returns split between shower and mid level on 15k superfish eco. From bottom drain to nexus.
It would mean Ting into the bottom drain. Has anyone done this? Watched a video and someone mentioned it doesn't work but I couldn't see why not. Would effectively be pulling 23k minus head drop through the drain.
Also am I right in thinking I can just throw the 18l of micro into the pod or does it need adapting. Never used the stuff.
Offered it up and can't see any negatives. I have the pods.

Hi Dave. When I bought my nexus draco drum. To replace the easy. I threw the micro k1 in my easy pod. And nexus.
As you say they look all right. But you will find some get through the grills. As there all not the same size. And they end up in the pump impeller s and back to pond.
I put mine in 2 years ago. And now and again. Still get the odd one getting through.

Well got the rest of my coping stones fixed on tonight. Will paint it when the decking is washed.
Did some more water tests and the ammonia is 0. However nitrates are through the roof. So second spike in play. Filters building, I stripped the shower and washed all media as it was off for a while. So that needs to rebuild it's colony.
Bloody ponding!

It amazes me what gets through the nexus, thankfully it doesn't get through the sieve at the top of the shower.
Turned off the mid level return and pushing the 1500 over the shower. More like 10 with the head height. See if that will sort the fines and help the nps I seem to be having.
Fish seem happy enough.

Yes happening fast due to using cycled media but you never get away from NPS no matter what you do.
No algae on the liner and various things playing a factor. Keep the water changes going for a few weeks.
We will get there I have plenty of cm of fish for the water volume. So quite glad the ammonia rise has come down so quickly.

I stopped feeding. Just a small amount of small pellet once a day.
The fish are being sh*ts. I had a couple of large fry in a floating net 12 months ago and they escaped into the temp pond and they where fine never an issue and they have grown to around 3". I noticed the bigger koi trying to eat them yesterday. They where a year together with no issues. I did put them back in a floating net when I moved the koi to new pond as I don't want then in there. They escaped again. All of a sudden in the new pond the koi have gone full hanibal lecter.
Will get then caught and into a tank I think. Until I can find someone to give them to.
