They look fine in that pic mate.
I'm feeding saki growth, around 180 grams a day. Was more than this but reduced it after fitting drum due to nitrite spike.
Nitrates often hit 80 last year and I had less fish and changed 20% water per week.
Now changing 10% per week (pond is bigger) with more fish and at least double the food yet nitrates sit been 20 and 40.

All I ever fed was Hikari Growth as I have always been heated... You will never have good whites on a shiro feeding that alone constantly.
Great for putting on weight does exactly what its meant to, the constant protein can have a negative effect on the liver and therefore causing yellow skin (given this info from my dealer recently)
I was advised to feed a wheat germ and I changed straight away. Noticed the difference within a week. Was also advised to get the protein into them through natural foods, shrimp mealworm etc...
This pond has only been running a couple of months as well so I expect mad fluctuations in parameters. I was feeding 100g wheatgem a day along with mealworm/rivershrimp mix in evening.Built not bought!

Know what you're saying Dave and I make you right.
The yellowing of the Shiro has got worse since feeding Saki growth. She's lost Sumi which also started the same time as the Saki. She was heavily marked to start with so no big deal there.
But, most of my Koi are Nisai and will be Sansai after summer yet most are still under 40cm. Thus I wanted to maximise growth this summer while their still young.
Whilst the Shiro and a couple of others have lost out since moving to Saki Growth (Lemon Hariwake has suddenly lost all his lemon, such a shame as he was stunning), there have been some positives.
3 Pond fillers that didn't grow at all last year have suddenly shot up in growth, the Tosai Kirin bought at 23cm in April was introduced about 3 weeks before I moved onto Saki Growth and instantly started stretching and is well into the 30's now.
And my dull Hi Utsuri has brightened up unbelievably well. Photos of him look like they've been enhanced.
I've been eyeing up this JPD food, in particular some of the colour enhancing ones (Yamato in particular) and if I run out of Saki before summer finishes I could move onto JPD for a Month prior to using the 11kg of Kusuri all season food that needs using over winter before it expires next April/May.
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
