I find it very hard to see £800 for a plastic box with 6 inlets!
I'm going to make my own.

I don't think they are reasonable at all.
You could buy a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer and shill have change for £1400!
Economy of scale I suppose.
A drum filter is not a complicated bit of kit,
It's just a contactor/timer controlled by a float switch at the end of the day.

When you call JBR, ask them to price your pipework and K1. Jason is pretty competitive usually.
He’ll also do any rubber fittings.
I found Coastal Koi probably the best value for ball valves. They’re not quite EA quality but not far off to be fair.
I’m running a 70l EA air pump on my bio chamber and that’s boiling lovely with 2 air discs things. If anything I’ll possibly bleed some air off to tone it down a tad.
Anything Oase is massively overpriced and there’s nothing wrong with the alternative pumps you’ve selected.
Many people are using the Jabeo ones without any hassle and they’re cheaper still.
Window...glass from Tuffx. You don’t need a frame necessarily. Mine is sat in a rebate formed by the insulation.
The fibreglass sits on the insulation then runs over the blockwork.
You just stick the window into this.
You’ll need a lintel of some kind unless you’re having an “infinity” style in which case you need to inform the glass supplier you’re only supporting the glass along three sides. That may affect the thickness you require.

Does your air pump supply your bottom drain aswell as the bio chamber!

Originally I had it supplying BD in its own (was like a jacuzzi!!!) and a hiblow 80 on the bio chamber but this proved a little too much on both. I was about to swap all three to the hiblow on it’s own before my “disaster” and keep the EA as a spare.
I would think that the EA would do a one disc chamber and a bottom drain fine.
FWIW I have 12mm air line to everything

Yes mate, well not exactly fish shopping lol.
I went to both North East Koi and Angel Koi to have a look at their stocks of fish, food, equipment and pond construction materials. I also asked about pond builder's and fobreglassers in the area.
I had a long chat with each and got their views/opinions on pond design and filtration.
Both actually recommend a Sieve followed by a bead filter. I think the main reason was down to value for money which I can't really argue with as cobraKoi said above it's a lot of money for a plastic box!
Brian at Angel Koi also recommended that I go 5ft deep instead if 4.5.
I will compare prices for bead vs drum then.
I can't do anything for the next 3 weeks but hopefully the dig will start shortly after that!

They’d both recommend sieve and bead on the basis of good value for money?
Sorry, I think they’re wrong and out of touch with modern methods and available tech.
If you want “value” then there are other alternatives.

That’s an issue I have with a lot of “dealers”. Personally speaking I’ve found many to spout load of old rubbish. I don’t dispute they may know a lot about the fish however, look at all the filter changes half of them make to their own ponds. It’s always “the best filter ever blah blah” then a year later it’s something else. Sorry, but i wouldn’t trust half of them as far as I could throw them.
You only have to read this forum to see how things have moved on even in the last five years.

When I first started planning my pond, i really wanted a nexus just because it looks very easy to clean... now I'm 90% sure I'm going for a drum.... just got to convince the wife lol she said we have a £9k budget for the while garden... so far it looks like I'm spending 6 on the pond lol

Get a drum . Dont have one my self but if the funds become available I'll be getting a drop in draco for the multibay. Get one from the start ill save you money in the long run of paying a bead and then swopping it out later when you jot happy
