Just had a measure up of the Eazy Pod using where I think the water level sits during a boiling session.
There is more water in there than I thought.
I make it about 116 litres
It's 53cm diameter and 53cm high. Water level measurements not Eazy Pod dimensions OK.
53cm divided by 2 gives you a radius of 26.5cm
(26.5 x 26.5) x 3.14 gives you just over 2205cm surface area
2205 x 53 give you a volume of 116865cm
116865 divided by 1000 gives you 116.865 litres
Hopefully my calculations are correct
So I either have to get a much more powerful pump or a bigger tub as I think the current one is only about 85 litres maximum and that's if I can block the two holes where the pipes go through it and then fill it right to the top?

OK so I have just ordered a 90 litre rectangular tub which will hopefully be a more useful shape and size than the current round one so will give that a go and see what happens when I next clean the Eazy Pod but may go for a bigger pump as well just to make sure

That's odd, I replied to your post and now it's gone !!!!
Well what I thought I wrote was - yes there is 30 litres of K1 in it plus the fixtures and fittings of the Eazy Pod but as the media is more space than plastic, maybe only have to allow 10 to 15 litres for the K1? Not sure how much to allow for the internals of the Eazy Pod but if you say maybe 30 to 40 litres in total for media and internals?
So 116 litres becomes no more than 86 litres? Does that sound about right?
As the new tub is 90 litres that should be enough as the pump will remove some of the water before the Eazy Pod is empty won't it no matter how fast it comes out of the waste outlet.

That would be the ideal set up for me but I'm not sure if I can find anywhere to safely bury or part bury a water butt without drilling another hole through the shed wall to get out to it plus I would like to keep things as temporary as possible at the moment so thought a rectangular tub would be the best fit all round. Will find out tomorrow if it turns up
I was toying with the idea of mounting a pump on the outside of the tub and depending on the height either fit a shower style shallow waste or come out through the side of the tub as low as possible and that way I have more of the tub to fill with water? Although doing that would require fitting a water level switch of some kind?

Are you using a standard pump? Or dirty water pump with float switch ? As if it's the later it needs to be sat in water to pick up, the only down side is you never empty totally with a dirty water pump there's always dregs at the bottom , I'm sure rs modified his to empty more out if I remember correctly the outher option would be a tank connector on the outside of your tub think the 2 inch is about 40 mm then 40 mm waste pipe from toolstation is useable with all the different bends ect and it's cheap as chips and solvent weld or silicone then you don't need the pump directly in or around the sump your using, also the taperd rat tails fit snug into the 40 mm pipe so it's easy to use different bore pipes

Pump wise I'm not 100% sure on yet as I will need to see how it goes with the new tub and go from there.
I know what you mean about a sump pump needing to be in the water so as not to over heat and also not completely emptying a tub and I did see that some people do what's called a puddle pump that will drain right down to 1mm - 4mm depending on the make and model. Yes with a dry mounted pump it would need to be supply via a tank connector or similar either through the side or bottom of the tank and could be mounted remotely but would just need a water level switch to make it work on it's own and not need me to switch it on and off each time ideally. The tub I have just bought comes with a grate style lid so would help to stop anything falling into it and effecting a float or level switch etc. and would also help to hold the pipe from the UVC to the inlet of the Eazy Pod up a bit to take the weight of the flexi rubber boot reducer that holds the slide valve onto the inlet of the Pod if that makes sense? There is a photo of it on my QT build that I put on this morning if you would like to see it?
Hopefully this is the right link for the page and it's post number 1584 I think?

I used one of these lifting stations on my nexus210 https://www.plumbworld.co.uk/flo-for...with-2-inlets-. It is meant to pump waste water automatically from baths, sinks and showers. But I have set it up as its very compact and I couldnt put a sump in my filter pit without digging up the concrete floor. This comes on automatically everytime my draco drum does a wash cycle and I have also used it for emptying the nexus completely when I wanted to clean the whole thing out. So it can deal with small or large amounts of waste water. You don't have to worry about it overflowing as its sealed and has a float switch so it pumps when required. It can pump up to a height of 4m. Also if you move you can easily undo the jubilee clips, unplug it and take it with you.
Steve.

Sounds like a good idea Steve. I tried the link but it didn't work. Not sure if it's my phone or the link.

Nice one Steve, that looks a lot bigger than it does on the website lol bigger is better as they say
What sort of flow rate does it pump out to waste at?
