Question regarding using sleepers as coping

Hi guys. Pond starts to get dug on Friday and I知 thinking about the coping tops. I like the idea (and the price) of putting railway sleepers along the top but I知 concerned about any treatment seeping out and running into the pond.
Any ideas on ways around this?

tanalised sleepers are safe to use as the tanalising shouldnt leech out,but you could if you wanted clear coat varnish the timber and let dry before using, expensive but yacht varnish sets hard and will last years in a garden environment, andi
