Idea
Hi guys.not sure if this is a stupid idea or not.I have the water entering in to the pond through a 2"pipe.and thinking there is easy free power not being used.i.e. if the water drove a water wheel attached to say a electric motor.would there be enough power to power say a pond skimmer or air pump.?any one every done it etc

You’d maybe get enough power to light up a small 9v bulb (dimly!) or similar but nowhere near enough to power anything of substance that needs 210-240v sadly.

I bet its possible to generate a reasonable amount of power, but probably not cost effective to make. Ideal for power cuts mind.
There are dams capable of providing enough electricity to run an entire country, but they have gravity on their side.... As your water is pumped, increasing the head height enough to make any significant benefit will defeat the object as your pump will use more power.
