    Nexus pipework

Hi all, im doing away with my eric based block built filter for space reasons, i have purchased anexus 220 ,has my nexus got to sit straight on the vertical plpe which entered my old filter or can we have a bit of pipe horizontal to give myself a bit more of an option in the placing of new filter..

    Nexus pipework

You don’t have to have the Nexus right on top of the bottom drain inlet if I’ve understood correct.

    Far from it.

I’ve got an elbow to straight run to elbow to Nexus on mine - over simplifying it.

The pic is before commissioning but my Nexus inlet is in the foreground. Pond outlet is in the background. Maybe 4ft apart.

    Hope this helps!

So am i right in thinking, that i can put a 90deg bend on my original bottom drain which entered my old filter vertically, and then some horizontal pipework,to where the new filter would be more accessible before another 90deg bend to take it into the Nexus, understanding that the further away from the pond the bigger the pump needed..

Im just looking at options at the mo, but nexus would have a 8ft run of pipework from the original b.d outlet and a 4ft run from nexus back into the pond, a lot more accessible that way plus i can do nexus pad and new filter area while leaving the pond running, i would just have to drill a new return hole into the pond..

    Nexus pipework

Sounds similar to my set up but reversing the numbers.

4ft from BD and 8ft to returns.

I’m running a Sequence 18,000 to Nexus 320 on a balance line with a Jebao 7,000 from Sieve pushing into it.

    Works a treat.

Similar here. Except mine is 12 feet
BD to nexus draco drum. And about 15 feet retirn to pond.
An 18000lph pump. And a 8000 on my skimmer line. Changed pump on nexus this year for more flow.
Probably getting about 12000lph through the nexus. And like gray quoted. Runs good on my setup.
I had an 8000lph before i changed to an 18000lph pump.
Next time any of my pumps pack up
I am going higher again. 20000lph
On nexus and a 12000lph on skimmer.

What 20k pump would you go for Freddy?

Am thinking of increasing my flow but concerned about wattage as my Sequence LOVES electricity so I’m cautious about going any higher at the mo.

    Any ideas?

freddy does the large pump not exceed the dracos recommended flow, thought it was about 10k per hour,in my opinion and experiance with nexus the slower the better, andi

Cheers Andi. So would you say to stick with my 18k that’s doing circa 10k by itself for the 320 Nexus?

well after googling,it seems the 320 can do 16000lph and the draco origin can too,so maybe a 20k pump would work ok after headloss,i thought the draco couldnt flow that much,i wonder whether my little drums can handle the same then lol, although they say max 10k,i was always told with the nexus 200 not to go over 8k as it doesnt get chance to clean water and when i ran at 12k i always had a nitrate issue which vanished when i dropped to 8k,,andi

Any variable flow pump jabao. I think thats how you spell it.
They run low on electricity. Also as andi said. I will keep the flow to my draco and nexus requirements.
    There cheapish as well.

Nice one andi. I think with a 20k i would probably get 15 to 16k out of the flow. And like you say. If needs must just slow it down. My upper pond plants help out with water. parameters as well.

I’ve got a Jebao variable 7k on my sieve line at the mo and it works well - low wattage and quiet too. Might look at a 20k variable Jebao for the main line and then drop it down a bit if the flow is a bit mad.

Not sure the Sequence is pulling enough. Seems a bit on the low side when I look at the inlet flow on the Nexus. It’s ok but not quite the rush of water I’d expect.

That said, it’s filtering the crap out well even though the water is still a bit green... Nexus pipework Resolve has been ordered.

My concern is for when the big fellas turn up in spring and they start eating & sh*tting...will the Sequence struggle. Time will tel.
