Well two weeks off the build to deal with other commitments but did a days work today.
The platform at the back which will take the drum and bio boxes needed a load of soil and a lot of infilling at the front where the pond will hit the decking. How ironic that we moved all of this dirt out and have just spent a day bringing it back!
The platforms need more blocks added then the soil levelled before a base is added. Having had the bio boxes delivered (1.8m long, .75 wide and 1m high) have decided to put a reinforced concrete base in for them, they are enormous!
Anyway back on the blocks next weekend hoping to get the pond and platform blocks all done and dusted

is that going to be a retaining wall? is it built sufficiently strong tp hold all that soil back and is there a way to let water leave the soil to stop it becoming saturated and heavier?

The height is a bit deceptive as it’s piled up ready to be levelled down once the outside wall is done, looking at adding piers at that stage and an internal concrete collar, then a reinforced concrete slab on top where the filters will sit.
So when it’s had another weekend and block work done I think it’ll look a bit different, at least I hope so

Have now finished the blocks on the actual pond! Ready to order more ballast and blocks to get the platforms started.
bit of a clean up tomorrow and move some of the earth back to level it off a bit to the decking
Also starting to think about insulation and will start a thread looking for some guidance as never used it on a pond before!

Been a bit quiet lately as other things taking precedence however got the filter platforms finished. Reinforced concrete slabs done and carried bio boxes round from the garage ready to lift on. Off on holiday for two weeks but when I’m back I can look at getting fittings etc ordered for drums and filters, then organise insulation and fibreglassing. So hopefully water in by end of August

Drums lined up with bottom drain pipes (not visible here) and bio boxes up on the platform and also lined up. Relieved to see that I still have space for pumps and sterilisers - was half expecting to need to enlarge the rear of the platform.
Tine to work out what pipes, valves, connectors I need so I can get them
ordered making sure I forget something obviously

Looking good ,DJ - cant wait to see your progress , as it nears completion .
One thing you might , or might not have considered is stopping the water seeping in around your bottom drains .
I had the same issue , and it drove me nuts . I`m guessing , like me , you didn't put in a damp proof membrane under your concrete base ? This can make it difficult to stop seepage around the bottom drains .
Luckily for me , the lads who did the fibre-glassing sorted out the issue . Think they had to drill a hole in the B/D to relieve the pressure , then fibre-glass , then plug the hole . As long as you use someone who knows what they`re doing , you`ll be ok .
Good luck with your progress !Colin

Ah it’s not seeping in, its rainfall collecting and the other end of the pipe is higher as its ready to go to the drums. Fortunately on top of a hill and all sand and rock beneath us, not the clay I’ve had before.
Started sorting filter connections and valves to get it water tight, then insulation and fibreglass, can’t wait to get water in it

Two drums and two bio boxes, running side by side. It was difficult to get the flow otherwise. The bio boxes will hold over 300 gallons of water between them, so plenty of K1 capacity if I can ever afford it

Well a tough weekend it got all the insulation on, a few joints to tape tomorrow evening then fibreglassing for 3 days from Wednesday, can’t wait to get that finished. Couldn’t believe how long it took to get the insulation on and am absolutely shattered. The slopes on the floor will be great for moving the muck but a nightmare to work on.

Had Dave Arnold down and now I’m Fibreglassed! Quickly sort bottom drains and a couple of pipes so I can start filling it on Wednesday.
