No update from last weekend although we have got a footing in ready to turn the next blocks 90 degrees. Hopefully get another 400 blocks done this weekend coming and it’ll really be out of the ground!

Getting the blocks up is proving a bit slower than expected, going end on now for strength and pillars every 6 foot on the main out of ground areas. Looks like it will hold the water though
Did have a moment of stupidity though when I put a decking screw through the blue water pipe, given the odds of that I felt a right pillock!

It’ll be 5 foot out of the ground at the far end so went flat and longways to give an 18” thick wall and then additional piers every 6 foot. Then the platform for drums and filters which will add additional support at that end. Most of the rest is underground to a degree and at the house end totally underground. Be around 1,700 blocks in the end,I’d use another 1,000 if I thought I needed the structural strength too

No construction work this weekend as needed to get second delivery of blocks etc. 720 blocks, 7 bags of sand, 56 bags of cement and a bag of ballast, all moved down ready to get cracking again next weekend
I did start to set to set up my grow on tank though so a productive weekend

Hired a mechanical barrow, couldn’t do it in wheelbarrow or carry it, too old for that nonsense. Managed not to fall off this time too

Well only 1 day of block work this week but my brother in law must have done 300 today. Added pics but doesn’t do it justice to be fair. Had a quick check of depth and think I’m going to end up with around 6.5 foot of water so pleasantly surprised by that.

A load more done, blocks up to water level in a lot of it now and the filter platform being built. Unfortunately the way the land slopes means then platforms will be a fair way up (2 more courses of blocks than up now) but will further strengthen the pond wall.
Taking two weeks off now as have other jobs to do and to be honest we are all knackered! But buying fish for the grow on tank on Thursday so it’s all getting exciting now.
Oh far corner is 7 ft from block to floor, allowing for water level and insulation should be a good 6 1/2 foot deep when finished
