Hi Andi, yep could be done, but would be a massive hassle, and expense in new unions etc...plus the end return goes through pond wall and fibreglass in 1.5” so this would have to stay as is...so whether having 2” all through and then 30cm of 1.5” at the end would cancel out the benefits I don’t know?
Annoying thing is when starting out (7yrs ago) I went to a koi dealer and he recommended 1.5” return...could easily have done it in 2” at the time..i’ll Make do and then when I eventually move do the next pond in 2”..cheers

I have changed my pipe work.
It now run 3" from filter to pump and over the shower, the flow is pretty impressive. When I turn the pump up you can watch the two filters that feed it drop in water level.
All my fittings under water are still 1.5" I was thinking of changing to two inch and splitting it over two returns, do you think this is a good idea?

I looked around and then got it off Amazon from a place called Active Leisure. (?)
Searched on Flea Bay and saw one for £149 and turned out to be the same people.
Went with Amazon as it was 48hr free delivery and same price.
Seems bloody cheap to me for a 20k pump so I’m keen to see it running.

Nexus pipework
I’ve got my returns split into two using 2” on each and they flow nicely. I’ve also got ball valves on each return so I can adjust the flow to both.
At the mo they are both fully open but I’ll close the higher up one a little in the spring to give more of a flow in the lower part of the pond where the sh*t collects more.
On yours with 3” I’d definitely split them to give you more flow control. Gives you the option then.Last edited by Gray; 09-01-2019 at 09:16 AM.

Thanks gray
Think I may do that with the 1.5, it's on a separate run that I use more in the winter through a heat exchanger.
I don't really have any deep returns now I guess the deepest is about 2ft, i have slide valves on them at the moment do you reckon I should change them for ball valves ?
The 3" just goes straight over the Bakki, I just turn the pump right down in the winter

If you’re going to change the 1.5” run(s) to 2” anyways it’d be worth changing the slide valves I’d say as the advice I was given early last year by the guys on here was that ball valves are much more reliable than slides and easier to use to adjust the flows hence only having ball valves on my set up.
Haven’t had any leaks or issues with the ball valves to date.

get as much as you can in there mate. like I say. I have 250 lts in there. and the same a ea 130 pump. and it boils it great. I put my last 25 lts in. in October so as to mature for spring time. and I am going to add another 50lts over the coming weeks. I bet you can t wait for spring mate. to get your big fish in there. they look great in the windows. and I am loving it this winter the cover on for the first time. temps keeping high enough for the fish to be swimming in the windows. and taking the odd feed. your doing it the right way mate. take care

my returns are split after pump, but as pump inlets and outlets are 1 1/2" i used rubber reducers before and after 4"-1 1/2 before then 1"-2" after, but then split using 2" Y connectors then a 2" ball valves on each of those 4 lines, each pump then either sends over shower or underwater all using 2" including the inlets in pond, will wait to see if gray likes the jeboa before i buy a couple,i think they have 2" inlet/outlets so that should help the flow a bit, andi

since new pond build my nexus hasnt really been on properly due to needing to be lowered, wil be soon lol,but to keep bio active ive been keeping water from skimmer in it and every other day sending this into pond so it gets fresh in filter, now something i have found is that everytime i got to it,the centre of the easy is blocked with k1,this i have found out is due to water level not being high enough to keep k1 above the outlets from easy section to bio section, any of you noticed with the amounts you have in that when pump turned off say for cleaning you get k1 in centre part??,andi

I have heard they mature pretty quickly. the bio chips. I was told to add my filteration media slowly. over time. but now in hindsight . I wonder if I should have put it all in right from the start,
who know s what is right or wrong. my last 100lts has been helx and my next lot will be helx. how s your draco drum running scamp. hope it is spot on. and the fish are well

yeah mate I am fine. the draco was the best investment I have made pond wise. for cleaning time and all that. my last pond I had 2x easy pods and in pond pumps. two of them. and working away on the rigs when it was 3 on 3 off
it was a nightmare to keep on top off it. that's another reason I bought the draco drum. my last year on the rig before retirement. meant there was no worries. we have had a couple of night around the zero mark. but its warmed up again. I was out with the dog earlier and it was mildish for this time of year. I jet was the drum screen once a year now. used to be 6 months. take care

Hi sorry mate struggling to understand what u mean..do u mean K1 from the actual easy is finding itself in the centre pipe bit? You can get a plastic lid that should stop that..or do you mean k1 is coming from the bio section into the centre pipe of the easy through the very bottom slots? This should not happen if you are pumping air enough into your bio? How low is your water level in the bio section? Cheers

Same mate I travel every week for my job, and it was way too stressful thinking of the Nexus cleaning when away, particularly in the summer...I think the Nexus is a good filter, just much much better with a drum in it..Nothing like an early morning walk with a dog..when I retire I plan to get 2...a black lab and Blue Staffie...something to look forward too! Cheers

At the moment my water in nexus is about 1cm above inlet tray bit so very low.yes k1 is coming back from bio and into centre pipe bit through flow holes.andi
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
