Just some more detail. I got these two koi as additions to my dads koi pond in May last year. They were around 15-20cm here and have since grown considerably over the summer. Both from Marujyu the showa has some sumi developing fingers crossed it turns out nice. These will be the koi to start the nitrogen cycle in the pond before I stock up with some bigger bits from Kitsu

Marked out the pond area. Got a 2 tonne digger and operator booked in for end of the month so things will finally start to move.

Update. Excavation has been pushed back slightly to week commencing 4 March. No set back really. Gives me chance to get the pumps, pipes, liner, Skimmer, underlay, valves, blocks and all over bits!! I’m so excited it’s unreal I feel like a kid in a candy shop!

It’s update time. Due to a large contract starting in March the excavator and operator are coming on Wednesday! All the items have been purchased and are in the garage ready to go.

I have marked the filter pit and pond area to be excavated then I’m going to hand dig the natural curving pond shape and margin, take a look.

Looking good Dom. Nothing like a digger to get some serious progress!

When you say blocks are next, I’m guessing they’ll be just after the concrete floor is poured? Or are you going liner? Sorry if you’ve said, I’ve just starting catching up on your dig & build My own Koi pond build

Damn right it made light work of what would have been back breaking stuff!

The blocks will seperate the filter pit area and the main pond, the bottom drain and pipe work will be dug in first the underlay and then liner will go in Gray.
