Can you not cut out the damaged part of the collar and use a couple of tubs of this in with concrete mix.
This is quick setting agent which may or may not set the concrete quicker
gravesend and Dartford have this in stock

There definitely are agents as I use them at work but on an industrial scale so can't really bring it home.
We pour cement and it's solid within 30 minutes. After 2 hours the compressive strength is 24 N/mm2 which means nothing to me but the span will take 300+ tonnes in weight.

Sadly I'm working every day including weekends till mid October with only days off to switch between night and day shifts.

My mate will lend me his Grinder and cutting discs, just got to arrange it.

My thinking is now heading back to the idea of cutting horizontal slots along the footing and slotting rebar in and then making good. If it works out would be the quickest, easiest and cleanest of all the repair options. Very similar to the Helifix method but much stronger.

Wanted to make a start today, but had work on the phone all morning even though I'm on nights tonight and now it's too late to start anything serious.

So to tide me over I injected this stuff into the cracks:

    https://www.toolstation.com/fischer-...kaAglrEALw_wcB

I didn't think it would do much but within 15 minutes it has set absolutely solid. I used a spatula to help push it deep into the crack and the spatula got stuck solid and I had to leave it in there and cut the end off.

By the time I finished messing around trying to get the spatula out, the last bit in the tube the had gone rock solid.

If the collar cracks again with this stuff in there then the forces against it must be incredible.

The concrete collar is around 5-6" deep all round the pond except for the end of the pond where it is approx. 12" deep due to the slightly sloping garden.

A crack developed on the left hand side soon after the pond was built and this crack is very close to a piece of vertical rebar so I've never been that concerned.

A 2nd crack has suddenly developed on the right hand side of the pond and goes all the way through the collar (back to front, top to bottom - literally splitting the collar into 2 pieces). This crack is around 12" away from the nearest piece of vertical rebar.

Full width pond view where you can make out a crack on the left side and another on the right side of the concrete collar. The concrete between the 2 cracks has been pushed outwards around 1/4" despite the fact the rebar is also in between the 2 cracks, i.e the main section that has moved also contains 1m x 16mm vertical rebars:

    Attachment 29483

This is the new crack on the right hand side:
    Attachment 29482

This is the old crack on the left hand side that I'm not too concerned about:
    Attachment 29481

The pond is fitted with a box liner and you can see a step where the box liner has moved with the concrete collar.

I'm not sure how seriously I need to take this and how urgently a repair is needed. I have no time off work between now and a 2 week holiday which adds to the worry.

Would be grateful if someone can advise if my repair plans are viable:

    1) Temporary repair to last till Spring:
Lower pond water to below concrete collar.
    Lift back liner.
Inject industrial resin concrete repair into the cracks from both the pond side and the outside.
If no further movement occurs between now and spring, I will render, re-paint and just monitor it.

    2) Permanent repair
Lower pond water to below concrete collar
    Lift back liner
    Leave sleepers in situ.
Cut a 1 foot square section of concrete with a concrete cutting disc and dispose.
Drill holes in the adjacent sides of the collar and screw in large heavy duty bolts that are sticking out into the void.
Fit shuttering to the collar and refill the hole with cement (mixed in with PVA / Resin etc to help it bond to adjacent concrete).

No.2 won't be as easy as it sounds what with the sleepers being left in situ - I'll add shuttering in sections so I can compact the cement down, then once I get near the top I'll have to push it through the "letterbox" between shuttering and sleeper.

There are no signs of any stress on any other part of the concrete collar so I assume its due to the fact the size of this part of the collar has caused it to become a structural part of the pond.

    Any thoughts?

Do you think option 1 is a waste of time or could it work?

    What would you do?

    Thanks.
Sorry to hear rs only just reading through.

I extended the wall on my pond, when joining the new shuttered and poured concrete wall I did the following.

I roughed up the old concrete wall and then drilled holes into it, I then used resin and bonded rebar into it.
I also wire mesh into the middle of the wall as well.
I wet the old wall just before the pour and has work fine.
May work for you on your pond, you could also dig out under the old concrete to help strengthen the repair.

    Thanks Sim.

This is exactly the repair that's been running through my mind.

Need to take the water level quite low as will need digging for the extra footing extension.

Thinking of extending the footing out by 6" and then paint it and use it as a shelf for plant pots etc.

RS you are missing a trick here as you could use this repair to extend your pond

I've already put the shovel and pick in the car so you just need to decide if you want to extend by 4ft, 6ft or 10ft and I'll be round later to make a start OK

What a offer that is. I wish I had that offer when I dug my first pond.

I think you you will have to re-consider.

Only have decaf... And it's probably 2 years out of date as only person who drinks it is my mum when she visits once a fortnight!

Don't you worry.... The extension idea has been playing on my mind, but I can't go through that all over again. If I did extend, it would be downwards to increase volume.

Just think if you did decide to extend again you could start another thread, sleeper pond extension 2 - this time it's urgent

24 hours since resin injection and its held solid.

Not sure if I can risk leaving it at that for a while or not.

Doesn't help not knowing exactly when the movement occurred, but have now found a photo from mid-July and a crack is visible in that picture as well. There is definitely no crack in photos from April.

Might end up not going on holiday anyway, as its booked with Thomas Cook. But for some reason it doesn't excite me that I might be able to stay at home and repair the cracked pond instead!!!
