Cheers bud, I was getting worried that I would need to buy a bigger pump

Have you PP'd it before use - does seem to speed things up if you do. I resently added 50 ltrs of new micro k1 to my chamber. I added about 5 ltrs at a time. It was fascinating seeing the filter sort out the new stuff and deposit it in the corners of the chamber. Didn't mater how much you mixed it up all the lighter new stuf was sitting in a raft at the corners within five minuets. Next day though it was all churning round with the rest.
    6000g in ground koi pond
    +3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
    29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

    I have a ea 70 on my nexus 320.
275 lts of mixed k1 and hel x
And that does it ok. So your pump is strong enough. I pp it first scott.
Like pip said it floats for a while the new stuff. Then all of a sudden you go in there. And its sinking and churning.

Although flexible it wont bend round tight curves so you need 90 degree joints in it. I used the 20mm one to my filter house. The 25mm is overkill for the kind of flows you would need. I just stuck a T then 2 standard garden tap fittings on the filter house end of it- 1 to connect to the trickle and one I have a hose pipe on for hosing off the drum waste chute etc.
Feline where did you get your tap connector for the 20mm? Struggling to find anything

I got one of these -

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-4-Solid...72.m2749.l2649

Avoid it like the plague - the photo shows the 2 male threads are part of the main body of the thing but what turned up had them screwed into the main body and they leaked like a sieve. The female threaded bit had a tiny little rubber seal that basically pushed up inside and sealed nothing. I tried tons of PTFE but made no difference.

I was going to send it back but thought the cost of the return P&P wouldn't be worth it and I'd get more for it scrap value

I'll try to get some photos to show you what I mean later OK.

I am going to chuck a few fish in on Monday, is it worth chucking the filter start in now or waiting until the fish are in releasing ammonia?

Yes they are and they work loose very quickly. Maybe the one I got was fake as it might explain a few things lol

The Hel-x does seem to boil much more easiIy, mine instantly boiled freah out of the pack. As soon as I addes a few litres of K1 it all clumped up in the corners, a month later it still tends to lurk there and generally seems far more boyuant than the K1.

I waited with my filter start until fish were in but to be fair I didn’t really see any benefit from it. It was only a few weeks after the fish were doing their thing when parameters started to change for the better.

I chucked in the gel and also the balls and neither seemed to do much. That said, maybe they helped later in the process. Can’t really be sure.

Seeing as you’ve got it just lob it in when the fish are in as it won’t harm the instructions said.
