Got those ones from screwfix £7 each, I was a bit worried at first and used straps to lift them as well as suckers as one came off when we lifted it. After we gave the sucker a clean and made it slightly moist it stuck fine after that. If you can wait and are close to berkshire you can have these 3 for £10 if you like

Something’s been bothering me... when I was fitting the window I was I a bit of a rush. I put the step ladders over the side and swing over onto them as I did I heard a bit of a crunch, had a quick look and there was a mark on the floor but got back to the window. The ladder has plastic feet but now that I’m not at home in my mind I think I’ve cracked the floor...is this possible or is the fibreglass stronger than I think?

Probably worth checking before you go mad and fill up I would have thought?
At least then it wouldn’t be a massive job to patch it up if required.
I made sure I had some timber under the ladder in mine cause I’m a fatty

I did have some celotex in the pond for under the steps which I used afterwards but was in a rush and didn’t think, I know the fibreglass kits are quite expensive and would only need a small amount this is going to annoy me until I lay eyes on it

i would ring some one and get a bit of water in the bottom. to see if there is a leak. you also need to put some in to keep water table water out. as this could damage the fiber glass. if coming in from underneath.
last year I emptied my pond. as its 6 foot deep. and hard to catch all the fish. to scrape and check and net them. the easiest way for me is drop it down to about a foot.
well I decided to empty all the way, when I got in there and cleaned the bottom. and my dome on bottom drain. I could feel the glass crackling. in my case I think it was air. I thought the same as you.
I had my fingers crossed on refill. from now I will always keep water in the bottom to counter the opposite side of things. like say a foot of water

Been having a think about my returns from RDF (think I’m going for a QK15 into JBR bio chamber). My original plan was to run one large pump and blank off the other outlet but now I’m thinking about running two smaller ones and using both ports on the bio chamber. I presume this will allow more flow through but was wondering if there were any opinions on this?

Also any recommendations on pumps and air pumps? Within a reasonable price of course

I got two of the Superfish 15000 ECO Plus variable speed pumps from Absolute Koi for £175 each plus about £7 shipping. Thought that was reasonable and both the pumps and Absolute Koi seem to be well regarded. Pretty sure I'll get my liner from them too.

Don’t think you’d go wrong with the Jabeo variables if you’re on a budget, they’re about £100.
Lots of people on here have them.
Regarding your 2 outlets, that’s probably what I’d do given that drum only has one outlet. It it had 2 then I’d only take one through the bio and one either straight back to the pond or over a shower, or at least have that option later.
Variable speed pumps will allow you to play around with the flowrates.
If you find you’re not getting enough “dwell time” (see many separate threads lol) you can wind things back, or visa versa.
Fishstreet (Jabeo) do cheap air pumps as well but I’ve no idea what they’re like. Some of the bigger dealers sell them rebranded so they will probably be fine too.

I believe the drum has two outlets, so you reckon use one to bypass the bio and return straight back to pond? Shower may be added at a later date but can’t afford it just now

Sorry mate, was late. Drum does indeed have 2 outlets. Doh
If you’re around this afternoon, pop over for a bit and look at how I’m doing mine if you like, it might give you an alternative idea.
Even if you were to utilise both outlets on your JBR chamber you could always change it if and when you add a shower. Just needs a bit of forward planning regarding your return pipework.
Now I’ve thought about it more I’d probably do that.

I have the Aqua Forte Vario pump (20k lph) on my 2nd line- seems a very good pump for the money. I chose it because I specifically wanted a pump that had 2” inlet snd outlet because my return pipework is 2”. I think thats worth bearing in mind when you’re making your decision. Seems a bit daft to me to have to use reducers down to 1.5” causing unnecessary restriction. If you buy a much bigger variable flow pump than you need it will run at a more economic wattage and probably last longer than getting a smaller one and maxing it out. I run mine at around 50%.

I can recommend the Hailea ACO super silent air pumps. I have a couple of those that have been going strong for over 5 years and are really quiet. The 65lpm one is more than enough to run 2 BD air domes on so long as they are not spindrifters (they seem to need a much higher pressure air supply). Spares are available for them also. This is worth thinking about when you buy.

Got both of them today mate, also had a bit of an emergency full of the pond as the floor was starting to float so there goes the water meter I was going to get . Now that I’m thinking about it I’m not sure if the JBr comes with 2 outlets, will need to give the boys a shout. Got dragged down the play park at pinewood
