I asked the bricky to leave me a gap of 1700mm as the window is going to be 1800 and I wanted a 50mm over lap. Turns out the gap is in the region of 1720mm only leaving me 40mm either side, will this still be ok? Depth of window is only 600mm

Maybe ask the window supplier if it’s too late to change the size slightly?
I’d have thought that 40mm would be ok as long as you fit it correctly.
50mm is a bit of an arbitrary figure anyway as it’s a nice round easy number. There’s no exact science behind it.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of 2 x 2” swivel ball outlet that I can solvent weld into a piece of 2” pipe?

Your celotex will be short of the opening which then forms the rebate that the glass sits into (usually).
Ie, the glass sits on the fibreglass which is lapped into the rebate.

Hhmmm I wouldn’t like to recommend that personally, celotex has zero strength really.
You should have a delivery date on your invoice from Tuffx, I would have thought if you persevere and catch them at least a few days before thy should be able to adjust it. Bang them a few emails in quick succession now so they’re there in he morning lol

If you’re really worried about it you could have a stainless steel frame made up to fit into a rebate cut into the blocks.
The rebate could be 40mm and the frame 50mm thus giving you back the 10mm on each side that you’ve lost.
Not a cheap option but it’d give you total peace of mind if you can’t get the glass size changed.
I’ve got a 3-sided frame on my window that was made by Ian from Mr Koi. Absolutely bullet proof!
I can PM you his mobile number if you want it?

The fibreglass that's between my glass and the concrete blocks around the window has no foam under it-. the frame itself is made of double thickness foam though.
I wouldn't personally put any insulation there because the glass will be pushed outwards with a fair old force when the pond is full and you don't want anything between the window and wall to compress when that happens.
40mm overlap should be ok. The reasoning behind bigger overlaps is twofold.
- A bit of leeway to allow for glass bowing (you do get a little bit on the longer windows without a frame at the top, nothing to worry about but if there was not much overlap at the 2 sides you would have less of a width of sealant there.
- The wider the contact area of sealant between glass and fibreglass the lower the chances of water managing to get through any little air channels possibly. If you put plenty of sealant there then I think you would be pretty unlucky to get a leak in that way, even if your overlap was only 20mm.
If you have allowed a nice little space round the edges of the window within your frame then you will also be applying sealant in that gap too afterwards. This should be belt and braces for your seal, as well as eliminating a potential 'edge' for koi to do things to themselves on, and leaving no crevice for nasties to hang out in.
I went on the super-cautious end of the spectrum and have a 7cm overlap on mine. It wasn't really going to add anything to the cost to make the glass that big bigger really. I figured it would spread the pressure over a slightly greater surface area of the pond wall blocks. Plus not many people had gone for an infinity style window the length of mine (2m) at that point so I wanted to be safe.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Having a bit of a panic with the insulation, does the cut ends of the celotex need to be taped over? I read somewhere that fibre glass doesn’t stick to it that well?
Bloody rain, cover collapsed and the floor is flooded... managed to bucket it out but worse weather tomorrow forecast . Hopefully Monday is dry

The celotex is also cut really rough as I had to do it quickly before the rain got hold of it

Managed to get the pond pumped out and thankfully the weather was blazing so dried it out a treat. Final bit of celotex put down ready for Bob coming tomorrow
