    Spindrifter detaching problem

My pond contractor seems to have not solvent welded the connection for the stem from the aerated lid to the base. And it has popped off.

Any bright ideas how to secure it without a full drain down and use of solvent weld please?

    Thanks.

    ...Jon.

You could try wrapping ptfe tape round to make it a tighter fit. Wouldn't welding it on make it a pain to maintain in the future? I have had the disk off mine several times this year clearing a partial blockage in the bottom drain pipework plus the membrane will likely need replacing at some stage.

If your not heated I would recomend getting in sooner rather than later as the water isn't getting any warmer!
    6000g in ground koi pond
    +3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
    29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

Thanks for the reply. I should have been clearer - Its not eh screw on top that has detached but the top AND the stem that I through should be solvent welded into the base, that if done would still allow you to unscrew the top for maintenance etc.

I'm going in at the weekend to replace my diffuser. I did not solvent weld my stem in case I ever need to remove. It has never come loose hover.....maybe luck. I would follow advice from pip895 re trying to secure in place and make fit tighter rather than weld.

I think it’s good to keep removable, but if you wanted to glue it in position quite a lot of sealants claim to work under water

would need to be a aquatic safe one

I had to remove mine a few times and managed. But a slow process need t get use to the water first once in

I will be doing the same as said above. Small blob of silicone up against a corner. Only pea sized. Push the stem in and maybe hold it with a foot for a few minutes and leave the air of for as long as you can so it can go off

    Spindrifter detaching problem

I drained down and siliconed my Spindrifter stem into the base - as you say the top (membrane) screws off anyway so you’ll never need to remove the stem?

I tried the Gold Seal/semi drain down/get in - it didn’t work for me.
