A more upto date photo.
Just waiting for another wood delivery. I've not installed the bottom drain as yet as I keep falling down the hole.

are you digging sides out for equal depth at bottom or leaving sloped,i know it would of cost more but i dont trust sleepers on their edge,i like the extra width and strength laid flat gives my peace of mind, also have you no foundations underneath for sleepers to sit on,is it straight onto ground, you also forgot to dig the trench out for botttom drain pipe,or is that cos it would be something else to fall into lol, andi

Hi mate
I'm going to dig the sides out a bit more but have a gentle slope to the bottom drain. I haven't installed the drain as i would probably break it falling in. The only foundations I have is where the reinforcing bars enter the ground they are concreted in. Once I get to the correct height of 4 sleepers I'm then digging the corners and installing angle iron. This will assist in holding the corners in and I'll concrete this into the ground as well. I'll also use metal plates to bolt the sleepers together on the inside.
As I'm not going very wide only the 2.4meters max that's why I've put the sleepers upright. If I was going wider then I would have put them in there side. I'm hoping this will hold with the extra reinforcement Im adding. However im nervous on the front where the window is hopefully going that's why I installed 5 reinforcement bars.Last edited by Warren spence; 17-01-2019 at 10:30 AM.

At 2.4m the sleepers will hold no problem in upright positions.
Mine is 3m x 2.4m with upright sleepers screwed together using 250mm Timberlok screws, getting on for a year old now and I've had no problems and I didn't use rebar either.
Extending to 4.7 metres now and am using rebar this time, but still keeping sleepers upright.

dont know if anybodys already said it , but go deeper for more volume or realistically it will be too small for koi, also install celotex insulation sides and bottom, it will save you a fortune when you decide you need to heat your pond, lol.

Hopefully by the time I'm done it will be around 51/2 to 6ft deep.
