    Idea's Needed water ingress

    Hi

I need another brain on my little problem...…

Block and render in ground pond.....Done !

The problem is the painting, I have gone for P1 used it before and loved it so easy and far cheaper than fibreglass. I was waiting for the inside to fully dry before paint but I had a couple of wet patches, and I mean wet you put your hand on them and it was running wet. So this was not improving so I drilled a hole in the worst one and about 50 gallons of water poured out into the pond. So I have water around the outside in the ground surprising since it has not rained for 3 weeks.

The flow has dropped off to a steady drip now but has not stopped.

I was going to try injecting expanding foam through the wall to stop the water just long enough for me to paint but has anyone got a better idea before I try that.

    Andy

Hi - What you need to do is dig.....

I had a similar problem, trying to get the corner of mine dry in prep for glassing.
So, dig a hole, a bit deeper then the pond a few feet (2-4) away from the affected areas. lower a float activated pump in to the hole, and let it pump out when it gets too full.
The water will track to your 'new well' rather than sit against the pond walls.

Bit of grief - but the only true way to make it work.
We still had a digger on site so you can dig a small hole very deep, whereas if your doing it with a spade the hole size will need to be bigger.

Probably not the answer you wanted - apologies and good luck!
Its a hole in the ground where I throw my money!

Yes that would probably be the way.......I am in clay here so I dont think the water will track to another hole, as I was digging I had a totally watertight clay pond.

I am also on a hill so any water in the topsoil makes its way down to me past my pond !!

I am hoping this dry spell will help me out sooner or later.

I too was in clay, and it worked for me....

I had an natural spring, so a constant trickle.

Best of luck with whatever you decide.

I'm also in clay and if I dig two holes 1/2 meter apart only one will fill with water and the other remain empty, If I was you I would dig out directly behind your wall, exposing the back of the blocks and you can pump out from there, you could also paint the back side of the blocks with either bitumen or Sika 4a mixture, I wrapped my wholes wall with polythene before back filling
