So to sum it up, I currently have:

    • 5500 gallon new pond
    • KLK Filtreau 30 Hi flow Drum filter
    • JBR Plastics 700mm x 600mm x 700mm Bio chamber with 100 litres of K1

So onto the question, do IA - Keep the JBR Plastics 700mm x 600mm x 700mm Bio chamber with 100 litres of K1 and add a 1 meter Bakki shower with media
    B - Ditch the 700mm x 600mm x 700mm Bio chamber and have a bigger Bio chamber made, then increase the K1

Opinions please as I need to make the financial decision soon and get this ordered

I've started a poll on the following link
    https://www.koiforum.uk/water-treatment-protein-skimmers-filtration/22023-bakki-bio-crunch-time-whats.html
I couldn't see a poll on the link but you have the same size bio I do. I reckon you can get more media in it and it should be good. The rest of your setup is similar too, with a shower and a drum.

Just a little finishing off before the holls, still a bit left to do, mainly fitting the JBR Plastics skimmer, which will be delivered on Tuesday and making the fillet strips to reduce the corners of the pond to help water movement

Talk about cutting it fine with the insulation, the bit I have left is about big enough to make a small kneeling mat

Is adding a second moving bed module not an option either.

I have two Oase modules, no shower - and they cope just fine with the food i throw in.

Apparently each module can handle 320g of food per day although i don't get anywhere near that amount!
Its a hole in the ground where I throw my money!

Its an option but its a new build so it may be better to go for one big one, to save pipework etc, what media is in the Oase units and what is your pond size, stocking levels?

Shopping list has now been made for the bits I still need to finish off, not including render £?, coping stones £?, gazebo £? and fiberglassing £1600, so on top of all that £1300 should get the fish in and sorted

So we have opted for a Bakki shower from JBR Plastics, 1 meter 3 tier with 2" supply from a 18,000 lh pump and 30 kg of Sakura Far Infrared Shower Filter Media, hopefully this will reduce the Nitrite and Nitrate, the K1 seems to be coping with the Ammonia

    Helix i believe its called.
3140 gal pond - with 10 fish at present (will be taking it to 16 max) Not looking to overstock - don't want the potential grief & want the fish to realise their growth potential.

I'm hoping to get to around 28 fish, in the future, so that will give them 200 gallons per fish, dependent on what my volume works out to be when I fill it

Finally finished off the insulation, all joints glued and filled and then taped, with 75mm aluminium foil tape.

I couldn't get a neet enough cut with the hand saw so I ripped them all down with the bench saw, what a dusty mess

They were all cut from a single sheet of 50mm PU foam, I didn't want a massive fillet so thought this worked quite well

Replacement skimmer arrived whilst I was away so this is now fitted, pinkgrip on the base and concrete poured down the sides, that shouldn't move

I've left it proud at the top so it should finish around about the height of the coping stones

A couple of boxes of goodies to go through tomorrow, I decided to go for 4 x 4 suction cup lifters, don't want to take any chances with the glass

    WP_20180722_17_33_09_Pro_LI.jpg

3 inch and 4 inch valves for the skimmer and bottom drains

    WP_20180722_17_33_12_Pro_LI.jpg

2 inch, 1 1/2 inch and 1 inch valves, I don't think i'll be short of valves, plenty for isolation and bypass

    WP_20180722_17_33_20_Pro.jpg

And a good assortment of pipe fittings, apart from the 4 inch 90 I forgot to order

Almost there with the drainage, it's nice to have a access point close but a pain in the ass when its this close, just short of one bend to finish off, then a few return extensions and then I can concrete the filter room base

What a wonderful start to the day, the pond has been bone dry since the concrete went down, we are now one day from fiberglassing and my neighbor decides to go mad on his watering and it looks like he has left his hose pipe running for a good few hours 12 inches from my pond wall and completely flooded the area, the water has tracked all around the pond wall and finally started filling it up, I woke up to 1 inch of water in the bottom, both bottom drains and pipework were completely full, took over an hour to vac it all out, just removed the cover to let the sun dry it out, NOT IMPRESSED

    Oh Roy, that's bad luck
Could you delay the glassing a few days just to let it dry out properly?

It's in full sun all day, so hopefully it will be dry enough tomorrow not to cause a problem, I have removed to covers and there is quite a breeze blowing across the area so hopefully it should work out ok, one side has dried completely just the other side to look at

Seemed a little strange today pulling in the heating pipes to the pond in a blistering 30 degrees, I had to cut down the insulation to get it down the soil pipe, two 16mm barrier pipes with 25mm of insulation and a multi core controls cable now in to control the heating
