However, when I reserved it on Saturday, they neglected to tell me that the poles were all stuck together. So when I went to collect it today, there was no way it was all going to fit into my car. I rang round just about every other hire company but couldn't get anything at such short notice. Therefore had to try and level things as best as I could just with my homemade tamping device. Long and short of all that is that the finish on my concrete slab is nowhere near as smooth as I wanted. I know the drains look like they've disappeared, but they're hiding under a thin layer of watery cement; I'll probably dig them out tomorrow evening.

By the time its got fiberglass on and full of water, the finish wont look any different even if you had a float finish, its another one to cross off your to do list

Looking good Adam. As already mentioned once it finished you'll never notice it.

The grand opening is getting closer now so I'll start getting the beers in and will be expecting the invite in the next week or so. Do you want us to PM you our addresses lol

Cheers Fred. A big milestone that one. The hole in the ground has changed a fair bit in the last few days.

Cheers Roy. Now it's dried out, it's quite ragged in the middle. I might just get a bit of self levelling compoud to try and make a better surface for the foam lining to stick to.

I best get learning how to do blockwork then.

I forgot to give a shout out to the guys from Monstermix who were both great yesterday. The pump guy even got in and helped me get the concrete spread around.

    Day 65

So I had a few false starts with the block work last week. Problems with the mix and the lines and then the rain came so I've not really progressed much. However, we did get some lines marked out over the weekend that I'm happier with and then I finally got out there tonight and started laying them. Bottom course is going to be the most difficult as the base isn't as level as I wanted. But the 4 blocks in the corner are down and in (hopefully for good!).

    Day 71

Cracked through a fair bit again today. Mrs Adster makes a mean batch of mortar and my daughter's been on mortar bed laying and pointing duty.

Quick question, do people tend to use pressure pipe or waste for return pipework?

Its all down to budget mate.
On returns normaly normal pipe work.
When mine was done. It was all pressure pipe.
But that was all in the price with my builder. As he had lots spare. From his other jobs.
My opinion is if you can t see it.
Like bottom drain encased in concrete. Pressure pipe. If you can see it. It don t matter.
Looking good mate. I like the fact your family is involved in helping with the crment mix. And pointing.

Cheers Fred. I'll have a think then.

Yeah, it was good all being out there. Having the bricky tool has helped loads and means that whoever is free at any given moment can start whacking down a bed of mortar.

    Day 76

I am a bit behind on my postings again as I've been busy with the block laying. End of day just made a start on the 5th course.

    Day 77

Progress has been a bit on and off 'cos of the weather so put the marquee up to try and ensure progress over the long weekend.

By end of day had completed the 5th course.

    Day 78

Weather was horrible. Windy and raining most of the day. The marquee didn't hold up too well in those conditions as the cover is just tarp. The wind battered it. It will need some reinforcing before it can be used to cover the fiberglassing. Despite all of that however, progress was good. 76 blocks down in what was a very long day. End of day and just made a start on the 8th course.

    Day 79

Another long day but the weather was better thankfully. 86 blocks down today and a third of the 10th course completed by the end of the day.

Need to do a bit of back-filling before I can go much higher. Return pipes will be going in course 11 and skimmer in the final 12th course.
