What IP rating are they Kenny?
I have fitted a fair few and use the ones that are rated for outdoor use but they are only IP66 I think - to be left in water they need to be IPX8
Hopefully this chart will explain it for you -

Aye, I got ip67. Guess it’s not suitable for fully submerged. Well it’s 12v, let’s see how long it lasts.
I’ve siliconed and sealed up the connectors.
Hopefully would improve watertightness.

The strips I use do look very well sealed so as long as you have fitted and sealed the end cap and connections and it's currently working then keep an eye on it Kenny.
It's a shame as it looks like you did a really good neat job of fitting it. For once I hope I'm wrong and it last for ages after all your hard work.

Aye, took 10 mins to solder on some wires and stick it to the pond. But yeh, I’ve done it now whilst the pond isn’t full. It wasn’t actually the plan to put a light in there, but found the left over roll in the garage and thought, bah why not
I did find some other ip68s on eBay but they look the same except for sealed ends. Well, one to consider for when this one breaks

As I said I hope I'm wrong and they last OK Kenny but if not there are always the IP68 set if not. Maybe a birthday or Christmas present idea for you to give to your family

Today’s progress, wallet is 200 pounds lighter....
Fitted the 4” valve, joined the skimmer and BD pipe, got a load of couplings to get 4” pipe into the 3” eazypod. Created a base from old patio, old decking and pallets.
Fitted the return pump, pre-pump and post pump valves. Again loads of couplings to made the damn thing work...
Filling the pond up now.
Found one leak.... “sigh”
It’s the return pipe into the pond.... either knocked it or didn’t solvent weld it properly.... always had to be something...

Looking good Kenny, maybe you can sell the unused fittings if you have any
If you only have one leak you did very well. Is it easy to sort out? Can't see the pictures very well on my phone.

No idea, first things first. Stop filling the pond and apply some gold label to the inner joint let’s see.
Water is pretty refreshing after a hot day ... too bad it’s filthy :S
If gold label on the inside doesn’t do the job, I guess I’ll have to gold label the whole hole on the outside

And a good morning to you too.
I knew it would be a pond related reason Fred.
I was making some adjustments to the waste water set up this morning and had my 2 cats as helpers lol

Good news been a few days, the area where it leaked by the filter return to pond is dry.
Once again Gold Label worked wonders
Been running the pond for about a week now, and water levels are steady. One less thing to worry about now

All done, and have 15 koi calling this place home for a week.
Next stop, outside kitchen. Thanks for advice from all.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
