Hi Eifion,
what a journey you have been on, I have read your build from beginning to end this morning and was shocked when I saw the collapse, what an awful experience for you all, credit to you for continuing and getting to where you are now, glad to see that your build is finally over and that you have water and fish, I am just about to embark on the same journey as you with a new build and NPS to experience and its challenges, really good informative reports and can see from the experienced koi keepers some super support has been provided for you along the way, hats off to all those who have helped - big well done to all, good to luck to you Eifion sounds like your on your way mate.

Thanks, most of the time I still feel like a complete novis and completely out of my depth.
I can't thank the guys (and Anne) enough on the forum, it's not just the excellent advice but also the support and encouragement they gave during the several challenging times.
Make sure you post your progress, best of luck and hopefully you'll avoid some of the problems I had. It has been tough but to sit outside on a nice day watching the fish makes it all worthwhile.

Hello John, I did end up ordering Flukesolve, a few people recommended it, it should hopefully arrive tomorrow.
The rest of the fish seem pretty strong and are all happily feeding so I was OK with waiting a couple of days for it to arrive.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi effion. Sorry to hear of your flukes mate.
My self and RS had them at the same time
This is what i did.mate.
UV off while using treatments.
A dose of Chlormine T first.
To take the mugas of the fish. Reason if there are any fish with thick mucus on the skin. The fluke could be underneath protected.
Then i did a 20% water change.
Then treat with fluke solve still with UV off.
Thats roughly a week.
Then i gave them a second dose of
Fluke solve.
Then at the end of it all another 20%
Water change.

That's great, thanks Freddy.
I somehow managed to order the wrong fluke treatment, I must have miss read the name, this arrived yesterday : NT Labs Koi Care Flukasol.
I've given it a go, hopefully it will work but I will order the recommended treatment for follow up.
I couldn't believe how difficult it was to turn off my uv, it's incorporated into the drum filter, I got there in the end though.
I have got a continuous trickle into the pond and overflow, I've increased this to get a bigger turn over over water.
Fingers crossed.
Waiting for my water to turn a nice shade of green with the uv being off 😭

Hello John, I added the treatment on Friday, no real change as of yet, I was just watching the koi and could see some were still flashing and rubbing against the bottom drain. It supposedly takes a week for the treatment to work, I have ordered some Fluke Solve as a follow up treatment if it doesn't work.
Not sure if it's the treatment but the koi are all swimming near the bottom of the pond and are eating a lot less food.
There may be another explanation for this though, one of the koi has disappeared, the Hi Utsuri, he was also first up to eat but there's no sign of him. He'd be too big to fit through the bottom drain but I have checked the filter just in case. I have noticed herons flying over in the past but lately they seem to be flying directly over the pond and not the river. The pond is quite enclosed, I'm up early and we've got a dog but seemingly not enough of a deterrent.

Hello all, the seven days for Flukasol to treat has ended, I'm still noticing some flashing amongst the fish, especially the chagoi . Saying that, with the UV off it's hard to see anything in the pond , I hadn't appreciated what a difference the UV makes .
My order of Fluke Solve has arrived so I'm planning on doing a follow up treatment with this . It does say on the instructions there's no need to turn the UV off while using Fluke Solve, I know there's been advice to turn the UV off . I'd like to leave the UV on to start clearing the water , any thoughts on this ?
Thanks.

I agree with Freddy, leave it off. It will soon clear when the treatment is finished.

I left mine off for 3 weeks. Went very green. That was in that bit of heatwave
When treating my fluke challange.
Because i also had a follow up whitespot.
After 3 weeks of finishing treatment.
My water is just clearing.
Can now see the bottom again.
Just needs patiance and a couple of water changes.
The pond is thriving again

Thanks all, the UV is off, I'd got so used to the water being clear that it was a bit of a shock how green it went.
But it's just short term, it won't take the UV to sort it out after the treatment is complete.
Thanks again for the advice

Hello all, well the fluke treatment certainly seems to have worked, did a follow up treatment with fluke solve which does seem to be the business .
Here's the latest video update : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DEpzHsTSTE
Quite a lot in this one, I've tried out adding a venturi to the in-pond return, not great but better than nothing . Got the auto feeder up and running, so far so good . Showing the fluke treatment and some more wildlife including a heron
And, an impulse buy, I really should leave my wallet at home ……

Eifion…………………………..The fish whisperer ………………..
Really glad things are coming together for you now Eifion especially after the trials and tribulations you have been through
even so, I cant stand the pond or the surrounding area, think its rubbish...………….oh, and then just to top it off, what do I see,
a drunken dog staggering around everywhere.....makes a change from seeing you staggering around I suppose .
Ps...…..will you net the pond when your on your holls to keep that pesky Heron away.
Best plants to remove Nitrate
pug has a very impressive veg filter on his pond, have a look at some of his his youtube videos....
