Yes I thought that, it looks like the corner wasn't tied into the existing blockwork to me, front corner bottom is where all the pressure is

Certainly looks that way or they’ve just “ripped” at the corner? They weren’t lightweight blocks by any chance?
I’m sure Eifiion will clarify when he’s recovered from the shock.

Eifion mate what can i say, really really feel for you but looks like the water pressure was too much for the build.
Never saw one go like that all i can say is dont give up you WILL get there.
Maybe needs some hollow blocks with rebar in-filled,cant remember the dimensions but it was a good height when you look at it.
So so sorry to hear this Eifion.John

Crickey! I’m so sorry to see this.
Hollow blocks with rebar through each section then back filled with concrete would be much stronger.
Good luck with the rebuild, hope it goes ok. Lucky no one was hurt.

So sorry to see this Eifion
Anyone accusing people of overengineering their ponds whould watch this. Water pressure is not to be underestimated. What a good job your builders were at fault here so can rectify it!2016 new 6000 gallon pond

My god, what a disaster. I have watched this thread from the start and thoroughly enjoyed every update, You must have been devastated to see this first thing in the morning. So glad no one was hurt that water must have come out with a lot of force to move that section of the wall so far down the garden. I am now looking at the bend in my sleeper build walls in a different way.
good luck with the rebuild I am sure you will get there.

Hope everything goes ok on the rebuild.

Hello all, thanks for your messages.
Still can't quite believe it, I thought the challenges would be a leaky pipe or water level in the drum filter, didn't see this one coming .
At the end of the day it will simply delay the build. Hopefully it will be a warning to anyone building a new pond so they can avoid the same problem . I'm determined to get a positive out of this

Was there any catnic wall start used to the existing wall? or crocodile clip, fish tie?, maybe there is some form of tie, but I can’t see anything on video. If not, I’d say that’s probably where the failure started.

Wow, this genuinely shocked me, Going to show the video to my boss who is a structural engineer (bridges and structures) as his thoughts might have some value.
So pleased that your builder is taking responsibility, I hear so many horror stories where they do a runner and suddenly liquidate their company.
