    Thanks Anne

It’s nice in the summer but grim in winter.

    Road blocked by snow.

Had to be dug out by a jcb. Took an hour to move snow off 100 meters of lane to main road.

    Snowed in for 4 days.

Internal floor to finish probably decking as the ground is on a steep slope.

Roof to do board and seal then run electrical cable to new sockets.

Hope to have floor in this week ( weather dependent ) can only do a couple of hours each day after work.
Note to self check roof height from floor.

I'm not gonna ask the cost, as I've been adding up the costs for my eventual build and cost keeps rising and that's without lots of stuff I've no doubt missed

We all go over budget tom. Most anyway.
Look about for gear for sale on the net.
    Thats the way to go.
Buying everything brand spanking new. Gets the koi tax added.
    That was my own mistake.
    Example i bought a nexus 320 £1500.00
I could have got one on the net for
    Between £500. To £700
I did nt know any better at the time.
As i was crap at computers and hardly used the network.
Jesus do i know now. Haha

I've convinced myself that I need a Drum now, plus a Shower, thinking of using a blue drum for a moving bed bio tank using K1.
Also my thoughts are leaning towards flow rates and on how to get waste from filter room to a drain, thought about Frimley's idea of using a Saniflow, but I'm worried about how much waste there'll be, because I'll be changing Saniflows every couple of months, thought of a sump with a good sump pump, but could do with advice on the subject like how much waste water will there be say every hr, but that's probably like asking how longs a piece of string doh!!

    Hi Tom,

I started with the idea of a small pond, got quotes and decided to do it myself.
I have kept marine fish for years and wanted to do it right the first time and not need to keep upgrading.

Its not been cheap and I should have done the filter area bigger the first time around.

Its been worth it though especially when you see all the fish at the window when you walk near the pond.

Its still not finished but its not far off.

You've done a great job, looks very nice, I've been thinking of knocking up somin to get me started, which I maybe able to do relatively cheaply using a liner and off the shelf box type filter, but its a false economy and would cause a headache when I did do the one I want, as it'll be in the place where the filter house is gonna go.

I am planning on moving my UV to the skimmer line before the drum and putting my ASHP around the back of my filter shed.
I need to drop my water level below the intake on my drummed the pond returns to do this.

I will have to wait 24 hours for the solvent to go off and it will possibly take that long to fill the pond back to its correct level.

Will all my bio die off on the shower and my moving bed as there will be no water over the shower or in the moving bed for 24 hours?

I might be able to put a small pump in the pond and have a token flow over the shower but not really sure if this can be done.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

I am also planing on moving my ASHP which will entail

    Hi Fred,

Thanks but I already have the stuff I need and cutting the 4 inch were it is is going to take a while.

I will get some of this next time I plan on doing any pipe work. I hope its a long way off once I do this bit.

    Thanks

    Richard

Didn't move the UV. It took too long to drill the concrete blocks on the filter pit to pass two 2 inch pipes through from the return pumps to the ASHP.

I moved the ASHP from the side the pond to behind the filter shed.

I plan on moving the UV later on I the year when I know the temps will stay constant for a few days as I will need to drain about half the pond to move pipework.
