Yes, I'm not relaxed now
Now worrying about the block delivery due later.
I have to have them dropped at the top of the lane and have arranged a lad to come and move them with a tractor. He's been before with the digger so he knows about the access but wife is convinced his tractor won't fit.
I don't fancy moving 9 pallets of block 2 tonne bags of sand and 10 bags of cement by hand.
I thought having koi would be relaxing. It's making keeping marine fish a doddle.

Sounds like the pump company might help you out and find another concrete company as they are responsible and feel it.
It would be a cleaner situation if you paid the pump guys who then paid the concrete company. lesson for the future - by paying them separately you in effect make yourself their customer, but you are relying on the pump company to manage them - not the best situation.
I dont think it sounds like you need a liner - just a more reasonable company. If you can still work with the pump company i am sure they will help you fix it. They might even be able to get the existing company to send a 'better' driver if they have an existing relationship with them, and want to continue getting business and referrals.
You have a few avenues to explore on monday before you make a decision to stop payments on the card.
The weekend is a bit of a delay through which you might stress but i honestly think when you open your fits beer and watch your koi in a few months, you'll think of this as a hiccup and a setback, not the end of the project...

hope you get it sorted monday mate, really they should give you a refund as the goods you paid for you havent got,ive had deliveries before where ive had an inch each side and had to fold my mirrors in to get to a spot, but thats all you need if your a proper driver lol,oh and 3 guys directing is a no no,1 banksman,1 set of directions, would be interesting if you get a good driver with the blocks that turns round and says "i can get down there " lol,was good of pump lads to say no payment to them though,i'd of slipped them a tennar to get a pint, good luck, andi

I'm not giving up, just kicking myself for not getting the concrete company myself. I have one who has been out and done a site visit.
I thought it would be easier for the pump people to sort so there both here at the same time.
I can get the original company I chose to deliver next Sat if the pump can be here also. If that driver can't get down then I will have to pay the pump company. It's six of one and half a dozen of the other.

So do I.
The pump lads told me yesterday's driver would have done easy. They were on a job where the diver was coming off a main road. Both mirrors in and less access than my lane. A million shunts back and forth but made it. Same company different driver.I meant one banksman but two others checking front and back.
I bet if we go down the two pump route the concrete driver will turn up and say I can get down there.
Gave the pump lads a tenner each.Last edited by Scorchio; 12-05-2018 at 12:19 PM.

so the driver you got today thought its saturday,im not messing about i want to get off home, cant do with guys like that, you get paid to do a job and you do it,so what if he he'd have had to do a few shunts, lucky thing for them is you havent said companies name,it only takes one bad egg to damage a normally good companies reputation, especially as nowadays word of mouth or the typed word as on here can be good or bad for a company or product, hope the blocks came good, andi

Hi Andi,
I agree, blocks came in a fashion. Due to access problems I had ordered 9 pallets of blocks. Two bags of building sand and 10 bags of cement. I had to pay extra for the pallets which is refundable.
I had arranged for a tractor and driver @ £80 to move them off the main road, down the lane and to the pond area.
The delivery came at 3:30. All dropped on road and tractor started the move.
The driver then told me he only had 8 pallets of blocks as he would have been over weight. No problem I thought you can go back to depot and get the last pallet. It's only 20 mins away. I phoned the depot only to be told he could get the blocks as he would be over his hours. They would be delivered on Monday.
I explained the access problem and the fact I couldn't move them on Monday.
Only to be told there's nothing they could do.
The saga of every job having a problem continues.
One day I might have a pond

Hi Scorcio,
I’m real sorry to hear your having such problems, its a shocking but also worrrying familiar story, and when Someone does give you a service, on time and at a reasonable price, then we sing their praises when actually they are just doing there bloody job.
..the only way is up from here.

wow what a debarcle,he was right as due to probably having a rear grab not a hiab crane his max weight is probably about 9 1/2-10T,blocks probably 1T per pallet and sand normally 750kg,i cant actually fault him for refusing to go over weight, its a big fine and points, but going over his hours?? who knows, saturday at 3:30pm hmmm,i would cancel the last pallet, get on with the build and pick the blocks up yourself as you go,think theres 40 hollows on a pallet if im right, you could get 10 in a car (i once put 25 dense in my old peugeot 206 estate, sat on its arse but shhhh dont tell anyone lol) or if you know anyone with a trailer you could load that and drive it straight in where needed, good luck with it all mate, hope you get concrete delivery issue solved easier, andi

The plan is to get them to deliver 1/2 a pallet on a flat back. I can pick the rest up as I pass.
I couldn't fault the driver, if they had rung I could have told them to leave the sand and deliver the blocks. One bag of sand will fit on a flat back. Blocks are to heavy.

Good news for a change. concrete company refunded the cost of the concrete. No arguing just a refund.
I have ordered a fresh delivery for Sat am from a company that has done a site visit and there driver told us they could get down no problem.
Pump lads have been contacted and there ok for 8 am Sat.
Fingers crossed the driver is up to it.

We were lucky to find and buy the cottage so I've had my fair share of luck.
Nothing building wise has gone right first time but I've managed to sort it in the end.
It will all be good one day.

It turns out all you need is a good driver.
Concrete in and levelled. It’s not even 9am.
Result.
